So! Some updates.

> I've started a new job! Finally. After all kinds of things almost happening and then falling through, hahaha let's not dwell on that. It worked out for the best because this new job is probably the best I could hope for in current circumstances. It is another call center job but it is fully remote so I don't have to worry about being asked to relocate to an in-office position and (this is the best part) I am not in a customer-facing position. When I got the offer letter I was under the impression I was being hired as a customer-service rep based on, you know, my past few years' experience, but then I actually got in and they were like 'no we actually want you to manage schedule adherence for the CSRs' and as someone who haaates talking to strangers and talking on the phone but had resigned herself to it because of the need for health insurance and steady paychecks, this is so ideal. The pay is also great and I really like my team and the benefits haven't kicked in yet but they will soon and that will be such a relief.

> I have scheduled my vaccine! First shot this Monday! That will also be a massive relief!

> I feel like I should put something fannish here but there's not really anything fannish going on for me right now. Still patiently waiting for news of a Doctor Who air date. The first installment of the Ninth Doctor Adventures should be coming next month, so I'm excitedly anticipating that. Dropkick Murphys' new album comes out on Friday -- I don't know if that counts as fannish, but it's also something I'm excitedly anticipating. Taylor Swift dropped Fearless (Taylor's Version) which was superfun to revisit and I enjoyed the new tracks but also this weird gray area of this album I already know very well -- I was 20 when it originally came out! (And it's not exactly my favorite of her projects; I'm very interested in seeing the rerecorded RED and Speak Now, though.) As far as TV goes, most of the CW DC shows are currently airing but they're not really keeping my interest; I'm hoping Legends of Tomorrow will be the exception when it comes back next week. New Amsterdam is great (but stressful and extremely tied up in Covid19) but not something I'm exactly fannish about. It's a weird feeling. I would like something to happen.

How's everyone else?
chicafrom3: photo of the TARDIS (Default)
Oh, hey, it's a list of mostly-unrelated things. Haven't done one of those in a bit.

- I update my LJ once in a blue moon and mostly post about Doctor Who, using the same two or three icons. Therefore I obviously took advantage of LJ's birthday sale to buy a userpic package for the next year and expand my userpic storage to 393. OBVIOUSLY. . . . I maybe have an impulse-control problem.

- Working from home is going . . . well, it's going. I don't enjoy my job but working from home isn't any worse than working out of the office and in these current times it's a lot safer.

- Shortly before all of this this-ness happened, I started making arrangements for my first-ever trip to New York City to spend a long weekend seeing Broadway shows. It was going to be awesome, I was going to go with teh Niki, we were going to see four shows, we got amazing seats to Hamilton and Hadestown and very-slightly-less-amazing-but-still-very-good seats to Sing Street and Beetlejuice, I was holding off on posting about it here until we finalized the last couple of details about the trip and then all of the pandemic shit started happening and obviously it was not going to happen and it was just a matter of playing the waiting game until it was officially cancelled. I got the cancellation emails for all four shows last week. In light of everything else that's going on this is a very small thing, and one day there will be live theatre again and other trips to arrange, but I will admit to being disappointed nevertheless.

- So instead I used one of the vacation days I was going to use towards that trip and took most of today off work. Declan Bennett had a livestream concert for The Theatre Cafe/Leave A Light On and I got to catch it; he's one of my favorite musicians and he played some of my favorites of his songs, it was lovely.

- There is so much Doctor Who content coming out right now, it's incredible. I have not been able to participate in the watchalongs because they've mostly been arranged for times when I've been working, but I've read the tweetalongs afterwards and they're fab, and the videos and short stories and things being produced are amazing. Some favorites, if you haven't seen them yet, are Rory's Story, an introduction to The Doctor's Wife written by Neil Gaiman and filmed by Arthur Darvill; The Terror Of The Umpty Ums, a short story featuring the Thirteenth Doctor (...sort of) written by Steven Moffat; and Incoming Message From The Doctor, a short webcast starring Jodie Whittaker and written by Chris Chibnall. But all the ones I've seen have been wonderful. Also the suggestion that Neil Gaiman write a series for Big Finish starring the Corsair is perfect. Please do so.

- On my own I've also been rewatching New Who from Nine onwards via my collection of Blurays and DVDs, and including all special features. Which has been a bit of an education in how many special features I just never got around to seeing. I'm into series 6 now and a bit disappointed that I have it as 6A and 6B instead of the complete series 6, because the special features, comparatively, are rubbish.

- I've been pretty much all abut the comfort watches/reads, really. Doctor Who, obviously. But also I've been rewatching Derry Girls and Red Dwarf and So Weird and reading the Baby-Sitters Club graphic novels and the Iron Druid Chronicles and basically avoiding anything that is not escapist-y enough right now. New Amsterdam came out and said "We decided not to air an episode because it was about a flu pandemic and nobody needs that in their fiction right now" and you know what I am your target audience, New Amsterdam. I'm not rereading Doomsday Book anytime soon and that's usually one of my go-to rereads.

- I hope you are all staying safe and staying inside.

Oh, hey, this thing is still on.

(I miss LJ and this is entirely my own fault. I need to start posting more often. I do keep up with my flist! . . . I just don't comment. Also entirely my own fault.)

This is going to be a rambling mess of a post.

I think that covers the basics, at least. Hopefully more soon <3

In case you, like me, need to distract yourself from the many ways the world completely sucks right now, here are a few recommendations for things that do not completely suck:

Leslie Odom Jr. has released a Christmas album. In case you were unaware, Leslie Odom Jr.'s voice is made of sunshine and rainbows and everything good in the world.
• The Hamilton Mixtape is available for preorder, with four songs released now. Listen. Heal.
• • On a related note, there is going to be a second volume of the Hamilton Mixtape.
• Speaking of music, Megan Hilty, Dropkick Murphys, and Declan Bennett have all promised to release new albums soon.
Imzy has moved into open beta, and it's a really nice place to have a calm conversation.
• There will be new Doctor Who in just over a month.
• American Gods has wrapped filming on the first season.
Nanowrimo and Yuletide are in progress.
• We still have each other.
chicafrom3: photo of the TARDIS (t: o: hug)
Good things:
- I pre-ordered the Hamiltome and it is on its way to me now! Because I'm cheap-slash-poor I got free shipping so I won't actually GET it until Saturday, but still, that's pretty great.
- Less than a month until I go see Once. I have finalized the plans for the day, including transportation and a nice dinner afterwards and it's gonna be fantastic omg.
- Slightly less than that until the Tony nominations! I am excited for all of Hamilton's nominations. Also for all the other nominations (Audra McDonald? Megan Hilty? Jenn Damiano?), but let's be honest here, it's gonna be the Hamiltonys.
- I went out this weekend and bought Star Wars: The Force Awakens on Blu-Ray/DVD/Digital. Also they had the original trilogy in a set right there so I bought it because as much as I love my ancient VHS tapes they're a pain in the neck to actually watch. This is the only problem with me regularly getting paid money, I feel like I can spend it freely.
- I haven't had a chance yet to watch the original trilogy on Blu-Ray, but I did have time to watch The Force Awakens. Guess what? IT'S STILL A GREAT MOVIE. ♥♥
- On a related note, the Rogue One trailer was released and it is incredibly awesome. I suspect that eventually I'll be annoyed at Disney for their freely-stated intention to beat Star Wars into the ground with a new movie every year for roughly forever but right now that sounds like the BEST PLAN EVER.
- Flogging Molly is rumored to be releasing a new album this year. And yes, they've been "rumored to be releasing a new album this year" for the past several years, but they've released a new single and are promoting it and I feel like that's a pretty good indication that the rumor has legs this time.
- Also Declan Bennett mentioned working on his next album on Twitter and man I would give a lot for a new Declan Bennett album.
- The TV adaptation of American Gods has gone into production and everything I see about it makes me MORE EXCITED. I know it's early days yet and it could turn out to be massively disappointing, but so far it seems like they get it and they're dedicated to doing a good job with the material.

Bad things:

I really, really hate my job. Like. A lot. Dread getting up in the morning, countdown to the end of the day, fantasize about dying of a heart attack so I don't have to do it anymore. That kind of hate it. It's bad.

I'm fully aware that the whole "spend the work week praying for the weekend and then spend the weekend dreading the start of the work week" culture around employment in the US (and other places! but lbr, the US) is incredibly unhealthy, and also unhealthily normalized, and I can't help it I hate my job so much.

I'm looking into getting a passport and applying for stage tech jobs on cruise ships. Apparently I've got a distant cousin who works for a cruise company, so who knows, maybe I can use that connection somehow. But I can't keep doing what I'm doing.

IDK. It just sucks.
chicafrom3: photo of the TARDIS (a: ko: rocking the mic)
I continue to be terrible at being present on LJ, and I continue to be sorry. I'm trying to get back into the swing of things.

Some stuff:

♦ I've started using HabitRPG in an attempt to get better at doing things more regularly - writing, reading books, eating at appropriate points in the day, that sort of thing - and so far it's helping. ('So far', I say, on day four. We'll see how well it sticks...) Does anyone else use it? Tips of any sort would be appreciated.

Karen Olivo is raising money for a solo album, which is something the world clearly needs, so if you have disposable income and want to support awesome music, the link's there. ;)

♦ The final episode of Psych is tonight, and I'm more upset about it than I was expecting to be. I know it's had a good, long run, and people are ready to move on, but I'm not really ready to let go.

♦ And then HIMYM is ending on Monday, and while my attachment to that show is a much more recent development, it's also pretty upsetting.

♦ I swear I had other things in mind that I was thinking, "hey, I should include that", but I'm both cold and hungry and have thus forgotten them all. Sorry. :/
chicafrom3: photo of the TARDIS (b: ani: play the blues)
This is a post of unrelated things.

♦ NaNo is actually not going terribly. I just finished Part 1 of this story; pretty sure it's going to be three parts. Part 1 dragged on longer than I wanted it to, given that it's mostly setup, but hooray! it's done now and I can move on to the more interesting and plotty bits.

♦ There is new Once Upon A Time tonight and it has real!Belle! SCORE.

♦ The new Discworld is out! And part of me really wants to read it now, but another part thinks I should wait until I finish my Giant Discworld Reread. (I'm up to Night Watch, so I've got about 10 books left.) I am not sure what to do. Opinions?

♦ I've recently gotten suddenly obsessed with Declan Bennett's solo music. I'm not sure why I wasn't already, because it's so good. So consider this a recommendation.

♦ THE DOCTOR WHO TRAILERS LOOK FANTASTIC OH MY GOD. Yes, I squeed aloud at the first shot of Matt and David together. And yes, I cheered at "you've redecorated! ...I don't like it." JUST CRAM IN ALL THE CONTINUITY NODS AND FANPLEASING, MOFF, EVERYTHING ELSE CAN TAKE CARE OF ITSELF. AND THERE WAS THAT TWIRLY HUG WITH ELEVEN AND CLARA THAT WAS DELIGHTFUL. What's up with Rose, though? Bad Wolf? Future version? Alternate timeline? Not really Rose at all? She doesn't look or sound like S2!Rose, that's for sure. I did say the way they announced Tennant and Piper way back when made me suspect we weren't getting S2!Ten&Rose, didn't I? I remember saying that. That little smirk of Clara's when she used the vortex manipulator? EXCELLENT. I am assuming until someone proves otherwise that she remembers everything from all of her zillions of lives saving the Doctor and is just going to be super blasé about Ten. Also, HURT!DOCTOR and THE MOMENT and GALLIFREY and TIME LORDS and ZYGONS and DALEKS and I AM VERY EXCITED.

I am almost certain there were other things I intended to talk about, which I have now forgotten. Sorry?
chicafrom3: photo of the TARDIS (b: ani: omg yeerks!!! D:)
I kinda suck at social media lately, and I'm sorry. :/ I think I've officially failed at my New Year's resolution to post here more often, even absolving myself of that whole land-of-no-Internet period. I HAVE TO GET BETTER AT THIS.

Things that are going on:

- Today I am relistening to old episodes of Animorphs: The Radio Drama (Uncensored!) because there are no new episodes because I feel like it. It's been a while. I'd almost forgotten how much I love these guys. I now kind of want to listen to them read one of the books while I follow along and annotate an e-book copy with their comments, but on the other hand that sounds like a lot of work for someone as lazy as me.

- Yuletide nominations start soon, and I am, indeed, planning to participate in Yuletide for the second time and nominations for the first time; SUPER EXCITING. (I may also have failed my write-more-fic resolution for the year. I don't remember what the exact wording of it was. But it hasn't exactly been a banner year for productivity.)

- It's almost time for first-run TV shows to come back! According to the app I depend on to tell me these things, Sleepy Hollow premieres in a week, Castle comes back in two weeks, Elementary comes back three days later, Once Upon A Time returns three days after that, and then a bit later Once Upon A Time In Wonderland and Almost Human premiere. So. That should give me stuff to post about. (Fingers crossed for greatness. Three new shows is a lot for me to try picking up at once; hopefully at least one hooks me, although it would be super awesome if they all do.) (Other new shows I am vaguely planning to try: Star-Crossed on the CW, because Robert Hewitt Wolfe on staff, and Girl Meets Boy, because Boy Meets World sequel, but I don't know when either one of them premieres). I am also super excited about spoilers I've seen for Elementary and Once Upon A Time; haven't seen spoilers for Castle, but fingers crossed there, too.

- It's still almost two months until NaNoWriMo but I'm getting nervous about it already. I have the bare bones of an idea and slightly more development on the two main characters; I keep poking at it and mostly coming up with things that aren't going to be useful (if they ever are) until I'm well into Plot.

- I am super behind on the marathoning-old-shows-that-are-new-to-me project (specifically HIMYM at the moment); for various personal reasons I kind of just lost momentum and haven't gotten back to it. I need to do that. That was a New Year's resolution, too. I need to accomplish at least a few of these things.

- In personal news, I'm still unemployed but have resumed trying to learn how to drive. So. Maybe that will be helpful.

- I apologize for the length of this post.
chicafrom3: photo of the TARDIS (c: st: tefe holland)
This is mostly a post to let you all know that I'm still alive. I'm still alive, by the way!

Other things:

Real life: Job is going fairly well so far. It's been very busy. I really like the rest of the electrics crew, they're nifty. We're taking a road trip to DC tomorrow, so that should be interesting.

The Tony Awards: Which I actually got to see! Live and everything! We got a group together and watched. We lost about ten minutes in the middle due to bad weather, but we got most of the ceremony. I have no complaints about the winners. Most of the speeches were lovely, though a few went on far too long. Most of the performances were great too, though A Christmas Story looks completely awful. Cinderella's performance was mind-blowing, you should look that up on YouTube if you haven't seen it; they definitely deserved that best costume design win. Loved the opening number and the closing number (AUDRA IS A BADASS AND I LOVE HER) and the concept of performers from current-running shows presenting the performances even if some of the actual execution was awkward as hell. (Whose bright idea was it to have Rock Of Ages introduce Cinderella?)

Fandom: I AM BEHIND IN EVERYTHING. Eventually I will get caught up. Luckily most of my shows are on hiatus; I think it's just Warehouse 13 and Continuum that I'm falling further and further behind on. I'M SORRY. Is there any interesting Doctor Who casting speculation? I've been poking around but it seems scattered to the four winds and I don't have a lot of time to hunt. :(

I MISS YOU GUYS A LOT.
chicafrom3: photo of the TARDIS (b: ng: cruel joke)
This is a multipurpose post.

> I watched season 3 of Eureka and have been intending to write a reaction post. Alas. That has not happened. Instead there will be this brief note that I felt fairly meh about it, though I'm not sure whether that's because of the show itself or because that's how I've felt about a lot of things recently. Either way I rate it a 5/10.

> I also watched this week's Continuum and intended to write a reaction post. Again. That failed to happen. Instead I will just note that I'm really interested to find out where the Alec & Kellogg plot is going.

> Tomorrow I move in order to start my new job the following day. I am SLIGHTLY NERVOUS about this, if by SLIGHTLY NERVOUS it can be understood I mean 'anxious and chewing on my fingers'. Hopefully it will go well. As I've mentioned before, it's only a two-month engagement, but the work seems like it will be really interesting. (And, you know. Filling up blank spots on my résumé. And paychecks. And possibly good references if it goes well.)
I don't know why my schedule will be like for this job, or for that matter what the Internet situation will be, so. Bear that in mind, I guess.

> It's just that I'm so bad at people.

> I'm pretty sure there were other things I intended to include in this post but now I can't remember them.
chicafrom3: photo of the TARDIS (t: [tos]: nine people's favorite thing)
Hey, it's time for another list of stuff that's largely unrelated to anything else!

► Camp NaNo isn't going any better than my first update. I've decided to drop this project for the time being and try something else. The problem is, I can't decide what to try. May attempt a new pass at the Better Than It Sounds 'verse. We'll see.

► Oh, hey, the [tos]/NHT gang is hosting a Kickstarter to raise money for a Now. Here. This. cast album! I have donated. You should, too. You know, if you're interested in a Now. Here. This. cast album. [/terrible publicist]

New Doctor Who trailer! So excited, ughhh. Dinosaurs on a spaceship! River! A reference to the Master! Daleks! Weeping Angels! *flails all over it* PONDS. PONDS COME HERE TO ME NOW.

► Also, the OUaT DVD extras look amazing.

The New Millennium of So You Want To Be A Wizard gets released in digital form early next week! I will never, ever give up my original hardcopies in all their inconsistently-dated glory, but I am desperately curious about how Diane Duane managed to fix the wonky timeline, so yes, I will probably be buying and reading.

► I am almost certain there is other stuff I intended to list here, but I've forgotten it now, so I'm ending the post.
chicafrom3: photo of the TARDIS (a: kk: dorking out)
AWESOME THINGS:

- I have Internet back! WOO! And LJ is also back! Also woo! Stop leaving me, Internet access and LJ! I have dependencies!

- I now own a full-length black duster. We will not discuss the fact that it is early August, regularly reaching over 100 degrees Fahrenheit during the day, and also southern Virginia. The point is that I now own a full-length black duster and this makes me happy even if I can't wear it for a few more months. (It was $15 at a CHKD thrift store. I can't resist that, okay.)

- New Doctor Who trailer! It is almost the same as the ComiCon trailer but not exactly and those not exactly bits are EXCITING and AWESOME. PTERODACTYLS, MAN.

- I received a $25 B&N gift card from my Secret Santa for my place of employment's Christmas In August thing. NEW BOOKS! Now I just have to find time and a bus route to get to a Barnes & Noble!

- *meaningless flail*
chicafrom3: photo of the TARDIS (misc: lj)
Thoughts on random things:

Livejournal: LJ! You're back! Are you stable? Pls? I MISSED YOU.
For anyone who didn't find out the details about why LJ was being difficult, this is a good article about the situation.

Music: Have an awesome link! A new JoCo song!

Facebook: I know a few of you had me friended on FB, so I'm just announcing it here for posterity's sake: I have officially deleted my FB account. There were several reasons for this, ranging from "I never use it" to "I'm uncomfortable with their privacy policies", but the end result is the same. I no longer have an account.
In related news, no, I will not be signing up for Google+.

Torchwood: Oh my God, I just ... I can't. There wasn't even any Dichen Lachman this week to distract me from the total lack of any internal logic, consistent characterization, or continuity in any form. What the hell, Torchwood, didn't you used to be enjoyable? Is it me or is it you? One of us has changed and it's not working anymore.

Alphas: But you're working for me, Alphas! I'm seriously enjoying this show so far. Nina and Rachel's complicated friendship warms my heart. I want more Bill; I feel like I don't know him well enough yet. Okay, I feel like I don't know any of the characters well enough yet, but Bill feels more like a blank slate to me than the rest of the cast for some reason. Hicks is generic and bland (omigosh he left a crime scene for coffee how ~rebellious) but I warmed up to him some for that last scene with Gary on the room. AWWW.

Work: It's been a hellish week. I don't wanna talk about it. Maybe next week will be better?
chicafrom3: photo of the TARDIS (tv: dw: 1/barbara)
So I kind of fail at LJ. I'm sorry! Work keeps changing my schedule around to make sure I have as little free time on as minimal notice as possible.

Things of note:
- I have acquired new Torchwood, which I plan to watch tonight after I call my parents and reassure them as well that I am not in fact dead. I am not at all sure how I feel about it. I miss Tosh. Is it going to make me miss Tosh more? :/
- I have also acquired (finally) new Flogging Molly, which I am very excited to listen to once I get the chance. I want to listen to the whole album in one straight shot, since it's reportedly a concept album that all ties together? But I'll probably wind up having to break it down into smaller chunks to fit into my schedule. Boo.
- I have been challenged to write Harper meta for [livejournal.com profile] andromeda_fans! I am debating topics now from among the list of rambling Harper-related topics that meander through my head regularly. It will probably wind up being about either Harper's relationship to 21st century America or Harper's role in the series as the Fool. I'm not sure yet.
- I think I've decided that I'm going to buy an Asus Eee netbook as my next major purchase, although I'm not sure when that will be. One of the guys I work with has one and I've kind of fallen in love with it. It's so little and portable and durable! And then I would be able to, like, write on buses and in restaurants and whatever.

In conclusion: HI LJ I MISSED YOU ♥
chicafrom3: photo of the TARDIS (c: s: bb!destruction)
Bullet points!

♠ I put my name on the AO3 waiting list, so we'll see what happens when that comes through and I actually have to. You know. Do stuff.

♠ I have officially booked a hotel room for this Wednesday. With check-in/check-out times it'll be more like 19 hours than 24, but that will still be immensely helpful. Isolation ♥♥♥ [/antisocial]

♠ Today I hit up a Borders clearance sale. And it's not that I'm happy they're going bankrupt, because I'm not, at all, it's really sad when bookstores can't stay open. But I did walk away with ~$80 worth of books and paid less than $8 for the lot. ...There was not a lot left on the shelves or I would've probably spent more than that. But y'know.

♠ There are evidently massive Doctor Who spoilers going around, and I would just like to alert everyone that, as much as a spoilerphile as I am, I would still appreciate not being spoiled about this. Please and thank you.

♠ Sometimes I feel sad and then I remember that I live in a world where Neil Gaiman wrote a Doctor Who episode and everything's shiny again. This is an oversimplification but nevertheless true.

♠ I wish I was in New York today to do the DW LineCon. MATT AND KAREN HANDED OUT DOUGHNUTS, YOU GUYS. WHY WAS I NOT THERE FOR THAT?

♠ I have finished Vol. 1 of The Swamp Thing and find myself getting annoyed by Alec Holland's unceasing emo. I suspect this is in part because every issue seems to feel the need to recap the first issue and I get frustrated at being repeatedly reminded of stuff I already know. (Also, they footnote everything. "After X happened, we knew we had to do Y!*" "*ed. note: as seen in issue #12" and I'm sure this was probably helpful to people reading one issue a month or whatever but for someone going at a faster rate OMG IT IS SO ANNOYING.) Also Matt and Abby have been MIA for much of the latter part of the volume which is frustrating because I find myself caring more about them than about the Swamp Thing himself. Maybe Vol. 2 will be an easier read?

♠ That was a really long bullet point, I'm sorry. Evidently I have more ~feelings about old comics than I suspected myself of.

...edited to fix tags and close a parentheses. *facepalm*
chicafrom3: photo of the TARDIS (c: s: dream)
A list of unrelated awesome things:

Being Human has been picked up for a fourth series! I don't know what's going to happen but I am so excited I can't even you guys. I can't even. Also, curse you Peter Jackson and your casting decisions. CURSE YOU.

♦ I have a new mouse! This is probably not exciting to other people, but my old mouse was driving me crazy; it would double-click when I wanted to single-click, or sometimes it wouldn't single-click at all, and I gave up successfully drag-and-dropping some time ago because it just wouldn't. But my new mouse does all that on the first try and it's so nice to have a working mouse again! Also it is wireless. I've never had a wireless mouse before. It's nifty.

♦ Today's mail brought me a shipment of two Sandman volumes (specifically, A Game Of You and Fables And Reflections). OMG YAY. My dead-tree Sandman collection is coming along nicely. ;) Amazon gift cards were the best invention ever.

♦ Speaking of Sandman (I know, I said it was a list of unrelated things), BUT ANYWAY, Sandman crossovers started eating my brain awhile ago, and in my various quests to actually write one of them I have stumbled upon a Sandman/Andromeda crossover that actually seems to be working. OMG YAY. I miss finishing fic. ...of course, now that I've said that, I won't be able to finish it. Or I'll finish it and discover it sucks and vow never to let anyone else see it. But right now I'm quite liking it.

Animorphs: The Radio Drama (Uncensored!) has gotten their site back up (and redesigned!) and added a couple old shows. Old to them, new to me, I mean. ILU, ARDU guys! You make me smile. :D

♦ Miss [livejournal.com profile] nikiness has returned to LiveJournal fandom! Admittedly it's Supernatural fandom which I am not in, but I'm just bouncy and glad that she's returning to LJ at all. YAY. :D

♦ I'm looking in to renting a local hotel room for a night. If I can manage it, that would be ~24 hours I could have totally to myself and omg it would be so welcome. The problem is finances, as the problem so frequently is, but I'm hopeful that I'll be able to manage it.

Kagerou, which everyone should be reading if they are not already, has just started a new plot arc that looks like it's going to be, frankly, AMAZING. And game-changing. And awesome.

♦ I switched the e-mail associated with this account to my GMail address, so now I'm getting my LJ notifs again. I hate not getting notifications in a timely manner.

What little, probably-insignificant-to-most-everyone-else stuff going on in your life do you think is awesome? SHARE THE AWESOME.

Word count: 51,033

OMG YAY :D :D :D

The story's actually not quite finished yet -- there's still some subplot loose ends that need tying -- but I'm pretty sure I'm in the final chapter and I'm hoping to wrap it up by this weekend.

But I hit 50,000! Early! OMGYAY!

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day here in the States, so a happy Thanksgiving to all the Americans and a happy November 25th to everyone not from the US.

Yay, food!

Since coming up here, I have played Monopoly (the Here & Now: World Edition) twice. The night before yesterday, my dad and my sister and I played, and my dad won, by rather a lot. Tonight, my dad and my mom and my sister and my brother and I played, and my sister won. By rather a lot.

I actually was the second person to go bankrupt in both games. I don't know if that signifies anything beyond "Chica is bad with money".

Finally, have a meme!

How to do this meme: Using only EPISODE names from ONE TV SHOW, cleverly answer these questions. Try not to repeat an episode title. It’s a lot harder than you think! Repost as "My life according to (show)".

Hey, look, another random updates post.

☆ I posted that DW fic yesterday and am now too scared to look at the reviews. ...this is why I shouldn't let a year plus pass between posting fics, just sayin'.

Matt and Karen are too adorable for words, omg.

More news about the In The Heights film! Apparently they're going to start filming in August. Also we still have no casting news beyond Lin being in it.

☆ You know what show returns tonight? Glee. NEGL, I will not be watching it live. "Everybody Loves Hugo" will be airing at the same time! And very little trumps LOST in my live-TV-watching schedule. It is entirely possible that nothing at all trumps LOST in my live-TV-watching schedule.

☆ Certain Casting Spoilers for Glee are exciting, however.

☆ ...I swear when I started writing this post there were other things I wanted to put in this list. But as I can no longer remember what they were, this is now the last item. Ta.

Clips from the upcoming episode of Doctor Who. AMY. She's fab. ♥

First-Person Tetris. It is really hard but also fantastic. Thank you, xkcd rss feed, you always share awesome things with me.

Lostpedia theorizes about this week's episode. Lostpedia, y'all are awesome.

Related: Here is my possibly-spoilery-but-not-really prediction: not really spoilery, but what the hell )

Also related: Look, I has a shiny new LOST icon!

Finally, this week's Daisy Owl is possibly too adorable for words.

☆ Some generous application of zipties later, I am now able to run my EHDs without worrying endlessly about the dog pulling cables out. Yay, zipties! Almost as useful as gaffe tape.

☆ ARD:U has updated their site with three more books. *bounces* I want them to update more regularly, man, all that time spent without those guys in my life makes me sadface.

☆ Thanks to the ~magic~ of MyCokeRewards giving me stuff for drinking as much soda as I would anyway, I am now the proud owner of some fairly nice wireless headphones. I love free stuff, it's awesome.

☆ Current DW spoilers being leaked are adorable and happymaking.

☆ Yesterday I wrote about a thousand words in Better Than It Sounds, which objectively speaking isn't that much but it got me up to the band breakup, which I have been struggling to get through for, like, a couple months. It's been a major writing block and I finally got through it and that is very yay.
