In other news, I'm spending the evening tracking old Chess audios, and it's reminding me how much I still want that fic where a couple years after the events of the show, all the main characters meet up in a bar but they each come from a different script. And confusion and grudges that don't make sense in context ensue.

I suspect eventually I'm going to have to actually write it.

AWESOME THINGS:

- I have Internet back! WOO! And LJ is also back! Also woo! Stop leaving me, Internet access and LJ! I have dependencies!

- I now own a full-length black duster. We will not discuss the fact that it is early August, regularly reaching over 100 degrees Fahrenheit during the day, and also southern Virginia. The point is that I now own a full-length black duster and this makes me happy even if I can't wear it for a few more months. (It was $15 at a CHKD thrift store. I can't resist that, okay.)

- New Doctor Who trailer! It is almost the same as the ComiCon trailer but not exactly and those not exactly bits are EXCITING and AWESOME. PTERODACTYLS, MAN.

- I received a $25 B&N gift card from my Secret Santa for my place of employment's Christmas In August thing. NEW BOOKS! Now I just have to find time and a bus route to get to a Barnes & Noble!

- *meaningless flail*

So I just got back from my local hotel sojourn, and I had an awesome ~19 hours!

Seriously, I need to find a way to make this a semi-regular feature in my life. That or find a way to afford to live alone.

Introverts of the world unite! ...from a distance, preferably!

I kind of want to make a fanvid set to a Volapük track, but since the only idea I have is 'huh, it would be kind of cool to make a fanvid set to a Volapük track' and not, you know, a story idea or a concept or even a fandom, it probably won't happen.

It would be kind of cool, though.

I need a project I can focus on for a while. Are there any interesting thirty-day memes going around?

I have been working my way very slowly through The Swamp Thing, and I do mean slowly; I'm only up to issue 14 now. It's just really difficult for me to motivate myself through it. I've been informed that the plot picks up in Vol. 2 when Moore takes over, but my completist streak will not let me skip ahead.

I am enjoying following Matt's character arc so far, though. And weirdly finding myself shipping Matt/Abby even though I already know exactly how badly that's going to turn out.

A list of unrelated awesome things:

Being Human has been picked up for a fourth series! I don't know what's going to happen but I am so excited I can't even you guys. I can't even. Also, curse you Peter Jackson and your casting decisions. CURSE YOU.

♦ I have a new mouse! This is probably not exciting to other people, but my old mouse was driving me crazy; it would double-click when I wanted to single-click, or sometimes it wouldn't single-click at all, and I gave up successfully drag-and-dropping some time ago because it just wouldn't. But my new mouse does all that on the first try and it's so nice to have a working mouse again! Also it is wireless. I've never had a wireless mouse before. It's nifty.

♦ Today's mail brought me a shipment of two Sandman volumes (specifically, A Game Of You and Fables And Reflections). OMG YAY. My dead-tree Sandman collection is coming along nicely. ;) Amazon gift cards were the best invention ever.

♦ Speaking of Sandman (I know, I said it was a list of unrelated things), BUT ANYWAY, Sandman crossovers started eating my brain awhile ago, and in my various quests to actually write one of them I have stumbled upon a Sandman/Andromeda crossover that actually seems to be working. OMG YAY. I miss finishing fic. ...of course, now that I've said that, I won't be able to finish it. Or I'll finish it and discover it sucks and vow never to let anyone else see it. But right now I'm quite liking it.

Animorphs: The Radio Drama (Uncensored!) has gotten their site back up (and redesigned!) and added a couple old shows. Old to them, new to me, I mean. ILU, ARDU guys! You make me smile. :D

♦ Miss [livejournal.com profile] nikiness has returned to LiveJournal fandom! Admittedly it's Supernatural fandom which I am not in, but I'm just bouncy and glad that she's returning to LJ at all. YAY. :D

♦ I'm looking in to renting a local hotel room for a night. If I can manage it, that would be ~24 hours I could have totally to myself and omg it would be so welcome. The problem is finances, as the problem so frequently is, but I'm hopeful that I'll be able to manage it.

Kagerou, which everyone should be reading if they are not already, has just started a new plot arc that looks like it's going to be, frankly, AMAZING. And game-changing. And awesome.

♦ I switched the e-mail associated with this account to my GMail address, so now I'm getting my LJ notifs again. I hate not getting notifications in a timely manner.

What little, probably-insignificant-to-most-everyone-else stuff going on in your life do you think is awesome? SHARE THE AWESOME.

So I finally gave up on Sony Vegas because it was just ridiculously frustrating and confusing for me. But I miss vidding, so I was determined to find a replacement program.

Mission accomplished! I just finished my first vid with Corel VideoStudio, and while it is not something I would show to other people, being a fairly ridiculous and not very well-made thing, it is a vid and I enjoyed using the program and yay maybe now I can get back to serious vidding, woo.

Given that I am fairly rubbish at wrapping presents, I'm not sure how I became the default gift wrapper for my family.

(...okay, that's not entirely fair. I'm just the default gift wrapper for any presents my dad buys, and also for the presents that my mom buys for him to give to her because he's a terrible shopper, and also for the presents that my mom buys to give my dad, and also this year for the presents my sister sent everyone who isn't me. It's still pretty weird, yo, and if anyone complains about the shoddy wrapping job on their present I will cut them.)

(...no I won't.)

Reminder: I am still taking icon requests here if there's anything you're wanting to see iconed this holiday season.

Decided to start on my Christmas shopping.

Discovered that the CD I was planning (for months, for months I've been planning on this) to give to my little brother never got a physical release, and since he has a weird aversion to buying music in digital format (he says he doesn't feel like he owns it unless there's a physical CD physically in his hands), there wouldn't be much point in buying the MP3s for him.

Now have no idea what to get him.

Why must my family be so difficult to shop for?

QUERY:

Have there been any retellings of Hamlet from Horatio's perspective? Preferably not modernized or otherwise setting-shifted.

Offhand, I know of retellings from the perspectives of Rosencrantz & Guildenstern, Ophelia, and Claudius (...I think? I can't confirm that last one).

Related, if anyone knows of a decent list of Hamlet retellings in general, that would be awesome.

(But seriously, if there isn't a Horatio-centric version of Hamlet in existence my fragile heart may be crushed. Someone get on that, I'm sure it's a moneymaker somehow.)

...no, I don't know why this is suddenly important to me right now.

Ugh, Broadway, why do I love you when every year you find a new way to break my heart? Stop breaking my heart, Broadway. Stop it.

Went to the dentist this morning to have some oral pain checked out. Verdict: signs are hazy, ask again later. May be a damaged nerve needing a root canal but tests to determine which nerve were inconclusive. May be the next tooth to need filling acting up. May be a sinus infection. Call back if it gets worse; otherwise, nothing can be done right now.

I love when my body rebels in such a vague way no one can figure out what the hell's going on.

In Sandman news, I've finished through Worlds' End and am about to start The Kindly Ones. I don't want to get to the end, then it will be over and I'll be sad. :|

Sign that your iPod's music shuffle is kind of awesome: When it plays X-Ray Spex immediately followed by Ella Fitzgerald.

I don't know why this particular song combination made me so happy, but it totally did.

Unrelated: It is ridiculously hot here. Would anyone like to trade for some cooler weather? *hopeful*
