Sign that your iPod's music shuffle is kind of awesome: When it plays X-Ray Spex immediately followed by Ella Fitzgerald.

I don't know why this particular song combination made me so happy, but it totally did.

Unrelated: It is ridiculously hot here. Would anyone like to trade for some cooler weather? *hopeful*

I have a new iPod!

...she is not actually a new iPod. Actually she is a fairly old frankenPod my brother made out of two different iPods. But she is new to me and that is all that counts.

Also she is 30GB, which is pretty cool.

She has been named Susan for reasons that make perfect sense to me and is currently being filled with music.

Also, the 30 Days TV Meme!

Day 01 ♥ A show that should have never been canceled

*pimps out "The Black Donnellys" some more*

Seriously, a lot of shows (a lot of shows) that I've been in love with over the years have been canceled in their primes, to the point where I eventually suspected that the problem was me and my being a fan meant shows were cursed to die young, but none of those deaths hurts quite as much as TBD. I love my crazy Irish-American brothers, not to mention Joanie (Joanie! ILU, Joanie), Nicky, Kim, Nadine, Kate, Matty, Whitey...and, of course, my boy Joey Ice Cream.

The fact that it ended in a Massive Cliffhanger doesn't make it any better.

I'm pretty sure I'm more bitter over TBD's cancellation than I am about any other premature cancellation I've suffered through.

new layout

chicafrom3: photo of the TARDIS (Default)
I'm sure you're all very used to my ocd-changing-of-the-layouts by now, but whatever, I've got a new layout now.

[livejournal.com profile] chicafrom3

I can't get the miniicons to work right, though. :/ They keep getting cut off, no matter what I do to try and fix the problem. Any one have any advice? Fixed! TY, [livejournal.com profile] ageless_aislynn! ♥

In unrelated news, there is new LOST tonight. Also, my iPod's shuffle is bizarre.

Today my dad and I went out in search of a way to kill time, and I elected to try to hunt down Titus Andronicus's The Airing of Grievances, which my Google Alerts keeps telling me I should check out because apparently they're very heavily influenced by the Pogues. Because I live in the middle of freakin' nowhere, I did not have high hopes for this quest; there were basically three major places to check.

Store 1 used to have it but sold out of their stock and had no intention of restocking. Did I want to special order it through them? I said thanks but no thanks and moved on.

Store 2 had never carried it and had no intention of ever carrying it. But I could special order it through them, did I want to do that? No, thank you. Kept looking.

Store 3 did not have it. They were crowded so I did not stick around to ask if they were ever going to carry it, or to hear them ask if I wanted to special order it through them.

Quest of the day was a failure. However, I did walk away with RENT: Filmed Live On Broadway on DVD, Anthony Rapp's Without You, and a chocolate-themed calendar. And when I got home I hopped on iTunes and bought The Airing of Grievances for $10 and am currently copying it to my iTunes for a listen. Quest of the day may have been a failure, but the day itself was a success!

...I am so boring.

I have a Product(Red) 8GB iPod nano now. *happy bouncing* I'm already very fond of it, and this being able to see and choose what I'm listening to.

I'd like it even better if it was, say, 15 or 20GB, but whatever.

Minor work news: My SM is leaving. *pout* On the tenth. *bigger pout* He lets us get away with acting like thirteen year olds! Admittedly that's because he acts like a twelve year old himself. But still. We'll probably get a replacement who'll want us to be professional and obey rules and shut up with the complaining and verbal abuse. *sulks*

Minor fandom stuff: I want to check out some new musicals. So theatre fen on my flist, any recommendations? I mean, they don't have to be new, but new to me? We all know Chess is my favorite musical ever and I can go on for pages about it, and recently I've been hardcore into tick tick...BOOM, [title of show], bare, and Zanna Don't!, if that offers any further insights into my musical tastes.

And Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, of course. Is anyone planning the stage version yet?

And a message to all of you, from Zanna Don't! since that's what I'm listening to: Love who you are, and someone else might do the same.

Hey, guys. Advice?

I got paid today and am now thinking of buying a new iPod. I have a shuffle and I'm very fond of it, but now I can afford something with, you know, a screen and that can hold a higher portion of my music library. Being able to play videos on it would be cool, too.

So, my question to you guys: of those of you who have iPods, what kinds do you have? What are your experiences with them? Strengths and weaknesses of different kinds?

In short, what do you recommend?

I'm BORED!

I'm writing to y'all from Evan's office, where I have been since five o'clock. Baby-sitting the Nutcracker rehearsal. Which means sitting in Evan's office unless they wander in here to ask me for something specific. So far, that consisted of about ten minutes of moving things out of the hallway, and other than that...sitting here.

I did get the script for Theatre For Young Audiences tomorrow typed up and e-mailed off to the relevant people. And I've listened to the NYACK concert version of Chess, the NY previews of Bare, and am now into the OLC of Chess (damn, I love my iPod). Other than that...BORED. VERY BORED. Also tired and undercaffeinated because this is the week wherein I try VERY HARD not to touch the four Cokes sitting in my dorm refrigerator because there's a really good chance that those four will have to get me through finals week because I don't have anything like the time to go off-campus and buy more. BLEGH.

...annnnnnnd I'm back. The Nutcracker folks just came in to let me know that they're leaving so I locked everything up for them (and just remembered that I forget to check the lighting booth...back in a sec...back), but the school dance team is still rehearsing in the Black Box so I can't leave 'til they're done and I can lock everything up. MORE BLEGH. The paycheck had better be worth it, that's all I can say.

Snagged from half the folks on my flist right now:

Comment and I'll give you a pic/screencap of the character you most remind me of and tell you why. Then you do the same for me.

Screencaps may have to wait until this long, tedious evening is over and I'm back in my room with access to my own computer, or depending on how long the dance team takes I might just google pics for you. Suits?

Yay, coherent updates.

Um.

Well, I'm back in North Carolina, which is sad, but I've got to cuddle my cat a lot and give my mom lots of hugs and tell my dad a really bad joke that made him laugh, so that's good. Also, pillows. The freakishly tall boy (a.k.a. my obnoxiously tall baby brother) is here as well; he needs a haircut and his taste in music is deteriorating. And I swear they're feeding him growth hormones at that school of his, he's grown at least another couple inches since summer.

Tomorrow me and my parents are headed to Raleigh to spend Thanksgiving with my sister; baby brother is spending it with his girlfriend, so he will not be coming with us.

I spent today sleeping in (oh, glorious sleep) and then watched an episode of Lost with my mom. It's our bonding activity. Oh, and I've been listening to my shiny new iPod, which makes me about six kinds of irrational happy. But it's very shiny and very small and I already love it lots. Yayy, I own an iPod. *bounce*

Niki is pissed at me for reasons which I'm sure make sense. If only I knew what they were.

In addition to my shiny new iPod, I have a shiny new-to-me-anyway mouse for my laptop, as baby brother bought himself a new one and donated his old one to me. I have bad luck with mouses for my laptop as I have tried two before and neither of them worked for more than fifteen seconds at a time, but this one works wonderfully.

On a whim, I joined the DW/Torchwood RPG at [livejournal.com profile] relativespace, which is proving to be amazingly fun and an entertaining way of procrastinating all the things I coulda-woulda-shoulda been doing.

Cheers for vacations!

However, it hasn't snowed yet this year for me, which makes me sad, so to make up for that, a present for all of you! )

So, I've decided to buy an iPod. Mostly because [livejournal.com profile] nikiness persuaded me into it, and also because Apple is offering to sell me a 1GB shuffle for $79 with free shipping and engraving.

And now I need y'all's help:
