Well, this post is late, but that's how I roll.

Two big pieces of Doctor Who news to discuss!

First, from Big Finish )

Second, from the Comicon panel, regarding series thirteen )

Second new Who episode of the week! And . . . probably the last episode of the season that I get to watch same day it airs! Thanks to work schedules, after this I go to watching it day-after. Boo.

But today I'm home recovering from wisdom tooth extraction and I get to watch it same day! The sole bright spot of wisdom tooth extraction.

Doctor Who 12x02 Spyfall Part 2 )

I LOOK FORWARD TO MORE THIS SEASON LOOKS GREAT

I'd just like to take a moment to reflect on how amazing everything coming from the Doctor Who team at SDCC is.

Thank you for your time.

There are some really good things about my current job, including regular paychecks, three-day weekends, and paid sick leave/vacation time (which I haven't used yet but it's nice to know it's there). On the other hand, the flip side of those three-day weekends is a forty-hour work week packed into four days combined with a half-hour one-way commute, which doesn't leave me a lot of time during those four days for...anything not work-related.

That was a mildly long-winded way of saying that this post is a collection of reactions to Doctor Who-related things that everyone else has already had a chance to react to.

First of all, the new series Target novelizations were finally released in dead-tree format in the US, hallelujah, and before I share my Feelings I feel obligated to state that I am still working my way through the classic series Target novelizations. It's been slowed down a lot by a) the aforementioned job and b) an influx of books I've felt like I needed to read immediately, but progress is being made. I'm about halfway through Leela's run right now. Next reaction post coming when I finish Four's era.

But anyway the new ones.

The Christmas Invasion )

Day of the Doctor )

Twice Upon A Time )

brief thoughts on the four as a whole )

In semi-related news, some Thirteen-related stuff leaked earlier this week, and like a bad fan I immediately hunted it down to see for myself.

And I love her. This is not a surprise, but, oh man, I love her so much. "Sorry, half an hour ago I was a white-haired Scotsman." And I love Officer Khan Yaz to her friends. And Ryan got to say about three words and I don't care I love him. TONGUE! Clever boy. Biology.

I'm serious, here, instant infatuation with all three of them, and "Shame, I'm looking for a Doctor."

I'm not as sold on the new sonic screwdriver design yet, but maybe it'll look better in action -- and Jodie in those goggles is possibly both the cutest and the most Doctor-y thing I've seen in a while.

I assume all of this was meant to be released as SDCC? I feel bad for TPTB that it got leaked early, but not bad enough to not check it out. It's glorious. I want full episodes nowwww./whine

And I guess the last thing to include here is that I just received my copy of Twice Upon A Time on Blu-Ray! But aside from being mildly disappointed in the lackluster bonus features, I don't have a whole lot to say about that. It's an episode I enjoy a lot and I'm glad to have it on Blu-Ray now. ♥

I started my new job today, and I also got five (five!!!) gifts for Yuletide, and they are all brilliant, I can't pick a favorite, I am reccing them all to you right now you should read all of them.

In the main collection:

Karma, Karma
Honey, I rose up from the dead. I do it all the time.
A Look What You Made Me Do fic, in which multiple versions of Taylor Swift team up to steal a statue. With backstabbing. And revenge plots. And a body-stealing, murderous zombie you can't help but root for. And some fantastically sneak-up-on-you creepy worldbuilding.

harder, in the nick of time
“Who am I?” I asked. “Where am I? What’s going on?”

“Genetically, you’re a clone of an individual named Taylor Swift,” she said. “Vocationally, you are, essentially, a spy. As for what’s going on–”

“We’re on a mission,” someone else said, “or we’re about to be. Gear up.”

Another Look What You Made Me Do fic taking things in a completely different direction. A memory-wiped clone of Taylor Swift discovers that she's been created to act as a diversion in spy missions and struggles with her identity, her relationship with her fellow clones, and her place in the world. Also features my new OTP Becky/Rory which I will now ship forever.

In the Madness collection:

A Bedtime Story
The things in the wall have quite a bit to say for themselves. It doesn't mean you'd be wise to listen.
A Sit Down By The Fire fic that is deliciously, wonderfully creepy, with language made to do things that would make Shane MacGowan proud. The things' opinion of humanity isn't flattering at all, and it rings more than a little true -- beware what the things are whispering to you.

Those who Help us Most to Grow
Fizz goes back to The Greenroom for some advice.
A Julie's Greenroom fic, in which Fizz, all grown up, returns to the Greenroom to seek Miss Julie's help and runs into Peri there as well. Utterly charming, as sweet and optimistic as the source material; this is what Fizz's future must and does look like.

Orientation
Etta Perrault meets a coworker.
A The Bridge fic, short and perfect; Etta's first encounter with Bob Specimen 10, as a new recruit. Also features a brief and exactly in-character cameo from Roger. I hope the podcast never goes into much detail about this part of the backstory, because this is my new headcanon.

I'm still kind of sick and I start a new job in the morning, so this is not a complete review post; that will be coming later, when I have more time (and probably after I rewatch, because I will be rewatching).

This is just an initial reaction.

Twice Upon A Time is an instant classic and I loved it to pieces and omg every single character.

The Kennedy Center is producing Chess with Raúl Esparza as Freddie opposite Karen Olivo as Florence and this is everything I've ever wanted from the Kennedy Center.

I felt the need to share this.

In related news, Karen Olivo released her first studio album to Kickstarter backers and it made me weep.

"Where there's tears, there's hope." THEN I MUST HAVE MORE HOPE THAN ANYONE IN THE UNIVERSE.

Doctor Who 10x04 Knock Knock )

Doctor Who 10x02 Smile )

Next week: the Regency episode! Looking forward to that!

Hello, Bill, I love you already.

Doctor Who 10x01 The Pilot )

Also I love everything about the coming-up-this-season trailer. ♥

I got to see Star Wars: Rogue One today!

I also managed to see it relatively unspoiled. I had seen the various trailers, of course, and also the headline of one article that said "how did they manage to pull of that last scene?", but otherwise, I knew very little about it aside from the obvious implied by the premise.

Spoilers under the cut.

Rebellions are built on hope. )

I'm running out of words.

I wanna see it again.

Girl Meets World 3x04 Girl Meets Permanent Record )

Next week: IDK, man. Based on the promo and description this could either go in a way I'll hate or a way I'll love and I don't know what's more likely. Based on the title I'm gonna hate it. Whyyy.
