chicafrom3Second new Who episode of the week! And . . . probably the last episode of the season that I get to watch same day it airs! Thanks to work schedules, after this I go to watching it day-after. Boo.
But today I'm home recovering from wisdom tooth extraction and I get to watch it same day! The sole bright spot of wisdom tooth extraction.
I just love Sacha Dhawan, okay. I just love him a lot. I want him to be the Master for a LONG TIME. He and Jodie have great chemistry, it's wonderful, and he switches between manic and quietly menacing so beautifully.
Which is not to say that the Master is the only great part of this episode. (Although, man, the Master is SO GREAT. Just skipping through the exhibition hall shrinking people? DUDE.)
AdaLovelace Byron being badass! Noor Inayat Khan being badass and super cool! I was not expecting the two of them to be in the same episode, much less this episode, much less teaming up to take the Master down, and it was fantastic! Can we get a Big Finish spinoff where they get their memories of their adventure with the Doctor back and team up again to have adventures in Space And Time? (One thing about this episode I am not totally cool with: the Doctor erasing herself from Ada and Noor's memories. Did Clara teach you nothing, Doctor?? Come on, like there's not tons of historical figures running around with ahistorical memories due to you. :/)
Ryan, Yaz, and Graham landing the plane via app (which I am cool with because it was a fun scene and that's the #1 thing I require in my DW plotting), getting declared public enemies, and having to go on the run together? AWESOME. While never changing out of their tuxes. Because WHY NOT. The scene where they reflect on how little they actually know about the Doctor was pretty striking, too. (Although given how often she flat-out stated in front of them that she used to be a man, I find it hard to believe none of them once considered the possibility that she wasn't joking before.) Also, Graham and the laser shoes. LASER SHOES.
Also Gallifrey's been destroyed again, because apparently we just can't leave Gallifrey alone, and we're finally getting some payoff for the Timeless Child thing, and I *flails hands* I want to KNOW THINGS. I mean I'm slightly frustrated that we can't just leave Gallifrey at "and there's Gallifrey, Time Lords are bureaucratic assholes so we don't go there very often", but HEY MAYBE WE'RE DOING SOMETHING INTERESTING WITH DESTROYING IT THIS TIME don't disappoint me Chibs!
