I hate trying to figure out what degree of formal I should be in ~official e-mails. How casual is too casual? Blah.

Anyway, two-thirds of the people I contacted for references got back to me and agreed so yayyyy. I haven't heard anything at all from the third, so now I'm trying to figure out who to ask and if I should ask them now or give her a few more days to respond. :| This is stressful, okay?

Although divertingly, today I received an e-mail from Brandeiss offering to waive the application fee if I want to apply to their MFA program for acting. Which would be like the BEST OFFER EVER if I was interested in becoming an actor. Look, I know my bachelor's degree is in theater but that's just 'cause my college didn't discern between performance and teching. I ♥ you anyway, though, 'cause that was actually a nice boost that I needed today.

Anyway. Because I spend too much energy freaking out about this application, let's have some fannish stuff!

♦ More SJA trailers have leaked, which is AWESOME, I'm so excited for the new season. It may be slightly shameful how much I look forward to what is actually a kid's show but I don't care I LOVE IT SO MUCH. Also, spoilers being leaked are very omg and I want to see how they play out on screen.

♦ I ~acquired the 2010 Doctor Who proms back when they first...happened, wtv, but only just today got around to watching it. *fails* Aww, Matt and Karen, how so adorable. ♥♥♥

♦ I'm still watching Glee! I don't know if anybody even knows that because I don't talk about it anymore. I'm...really not feeling it that much this season so far. But next week song spoiler for next week ) so that should be awesome and I'm looking forward to it.

♦ Erm, and stuff. More of my shows need to be on now so I can have something to talk about.

Finally (finally!) earned enough Amazon gift cards to be able to buy the LOST S6 DVDs. Yay! Now I just have to wait for them to get here. Trying to decided if I want to immediately do a full series rewatch or rewatch S6 now and then do the full series later. Probably will do S6 now, as I am a sucker for instant gratification.

Meanwhile, I have to figure out who I'm going to get to write me letters of recommendation and also write a statement of purpose (??) and also contact my last colleges for transcripts for my grad school app. Woo.

Have finished the first season of Merlin and am now taking a break to go through Sherlock because clearly I need to be significantly behind everyone else when it comes to TV.

That said, I really really loved the first episode of Sherlock and have a strong feeling I will love the other two episodes as well, y/y?

Unrelated: I took a GRE practice test today and did better than I expected I would, although my math skills are a bit of a mess. Going to take another practice test either tomorrow or Friday and then on Saturday is the real thing omg.

I am investigating going back to school to get a master's in library science. Why? Because I'm unemployed and depressed and my existing degree does not appear to be getting me jobs.

...I could be good at being a librarian, man. Not a school librarian, but any other kind of librarian, yes.

Right now I've got admissions information for NYU and Simmons open in my Firefox tabs. If I'm going to go back to school, it will have to be in a real city.

This is a bit terrifying, yo.

Another awesome thing from today: my degree arrived from Regis! ...I had no idea until now (a year and a few months after I finished school, yeesh) that I graduated cum laude. ♥

So...this girl I went to college with (another theatre major, but actor as opposed to my tech-loving ways) posted on my Facebook wall that she's now living in LA and she randomly met this guy who's friends with Bruce Campbell and he gave her free tickets to My Name Is Bruce and set up a meeting for her with BC afterwards. *flail* As, you know, the person who introduced her to the wonder that is Bruce Campbell's filmography, she thought I would want to know.

Things like this make me deeply, deeply jealous of the people I went to school with who are doing so much more now than I am.

I am listening to Animorphs: The Radio Drama, Uncensored. It's kind of awesome. Why have I not been exposed to this before?

Anyway.

It is officially December, as my subject line says, which means [livejournal.com profile] mini_nanowrimo is over. Official NaNoWriMo is also over, but I did miniNaNo this year. Annnd...

I did it! Met my word goal every day for thirty days! Admittedly my word goal was a measly 100 words, but whatever. With a word goal for the month of 3,000, I wound up writing 11,632 words, which is kind of really cool. For me, anyway.

Stuff I took away from this month: cut for those of you who don't care )

...anyway.

I finally got around to calling my alma mater about my degree. (SEND ME MY DEGREE.) I got redirected to someone's voice mail and left a message, so hopefully they'll call me back soon.

Also I now have shoes that don't have gaping holes in them which is kind of really cool. Yes, I'm pathetic, but you try spending a month working outdoors in rainy weather with shoes with gaping holes in them because you can't afford/don't have time to go get new ones. *pouts*

I am in North Carolina, home of absolutely nothing.

This is...

Let's not talk about that. So this is just a note that, yes, I arrived safely, flight didn't crash, etc.

And I'm never going to be a college undergrad again. :/ It's done. That part of my life is over. I have to be, like, an adult or something now. (Grad school, here I come! ...once I have the money, that is. Eeeugh.) It was really sad leaving everybody, I got hugged so many times I lost count...Steve made sure I was the one who locked everything up on Friday after work, and then he and Ashley and Melissa took me out to Wendy's for a goodbye-ice-cream, and then Saturday morning before I left Amanda and Jane and Natalie took me to breakfast and we all cried and hugged and said goodbye and swapped addresses and they gave me a scarf. I think everybody I saw in the last few days tried to emotionally blackmail into coming back for either Pippin or graduation.

[livejournal.com profile] super_kc!! Your package beat me home. XD XD XD I love it so much! And am guarding it jealously from my mother who seems to want to steal some. Thank you soooooo much. *hugs* ♥

I got stuff for my sister's Christmas present. Which means that all of my immediate family I have left to shop for is my kid brother. I also still have to pick up Teh Niki's gift, but I am fairly sure I know what I'm going to get her. Ys. it's just a question of getting to a store that has it.

And, uh. [livejournal.com profile] fannish5! Which I haven't done in a while, I think.
Name five characters who should die, or should have died sooner.
1. Dylan Hunt
2. Ana-Lucia Cortez
3. Rose Tyler
4. Max Evans
5. John Doggett

YAY! The Joyce/Yeats essay is done! Finished! It's five pages of BS and a really awful conclusion, because really what I had to say could be said in maybe three pages but I had to stretch it out, but anyway it's done and I can stop thinking about it!

That was way too many exclamation points!

OKAY. Hopefully tomorrow I will have time to get gifties uploaded for those of you who are awaiting gifties. Today I be selfish; I know when I posted my wishlist a handful of people asked for specific fic requests, so under the cut find a ridiculously long list of prompts for the fandoms/pairings/whatevers I have been craving most recently.

some of these I don't think anyone on my flist writes, but oh well! )

I'm not actually expecting anything (although [livejournal.com profile] kawaiispinel already wrote me TOTALLY AWESOME Olive/Alfredo fic of the UTTERLY PERFECT kind), but just so it's out there, y'know?

...yeah, I'm gonna shut up and go to bed now.

I should be writing my paper.

Not the film paper. That's done, I finished it last night and am afraid to look at it again because I think it's about 75% fangirling over how awesome Serenity is. But it's done, is the point.

No, this is the other paper. The Brit writers paper. About Yeats and Joyce and their differing interpretations of what it means to be Irish. It's due Tuesday morning, and, uh. I have no idea what to write. I mean, I have thoughts, I just can't seem to transfer them to a paper.

So, in lieu of actually doing any writing:

Julia and Kendra's last "For Good". ♥ ask;dahn;ean they make me flail.

"Good Burger" is on Nickelodeon right now. This pleases me. ♥ Although it does bring up the question of why Nick and Disney both have such a fetish for getting their teen actors into drag. And how exactly the incredible slashtasticness of this movie passed me by when I was a kid.

All right, wishlist update! [livejournal.com profile] allfireburns has received gift. ♥ [livejournal.com profile] super_kc and [livejournal.com profile] agapi42, your presents are on their way to you through the mail RIGHT NOW. Theoretically. Yay! [livejournal.com profile] kawaiispinel and [livejournal.com profile] ladyfiresprite, I know what I'm giving you and have it all put together, I just need to get it online. [livejournal.com profile] fakebody and [livejournal.com profile] assiduous1, it's almost the same situation but I still have to put it together. And [livejournal.com profile] cameraneverlies and [livejournal.com profile] lady_jahar...I'm deciding, but definitely coming v. soon. Oh! And [livejournal.com profile] stormchild03, I'm gonna try to pick up cards for your kids on Monday.

If your name is not in that paragraph of doooooom, I don't have your wishlist bookmarked. If you've posted it, drop me a link here; if you haven't but you'd still like to receive something, let me know!

Meme from [livejournal.com profile] super_kc:

Rules? Good question. Best guess? You are to comment to this post, and I'll give you a letter and then you post ten-ish songs in your journal that start with the letter given. Capiche?

[livejournal.com profile] super_kc gave me P.

1. Pair Of Brown Eyes - The Pogues
2. Please Daddy (Don't Get Drunk This Christmas) - Alan Jackson
3. Papa Loved Mama - Garth Brooks
4. Penny - Idina Menzel
5. Perfect - Sara Evans
6. Pinball Wizard - The Who
7. Pirates Who Don't Do Anything - Relient K
8. Pity The Child - Chess
9. Plain Jane Fatass - Bare: A Pop Opera
10. Popular - Wicked

Songs are uploaded for sampling purposes only, the RIAA expects you to delete after 24 hours, etc. Y'all know the drill.

In fandom/rl news, I have decided what modern movies I'm going to talk about in my Classics Of American Cinema paper about how the roles of women have changed over the years -- Serenity (River, specifically) and Hairspray (Tracy, specifically). Yes, I know that Serenity is overrun with awesome women, but River fits the archetype I'm talking about best.

...I should actually be writing this paper rather than talking about it vaguely here. But y'know. I have hot chocolate and a childhood movie and you guys, and that's way more interesting.
