chicafrom3The BBC has announced who will be traveling through time and space with the 13th Doctor!
I'M SO EXCITED.
I feel like if you've read any of my ramblings on Doctor Who you know how much I love a crowded TARDIS -- the more companions the better, imo -- and so this is DELIGHTFUL just on that front alone. (I feel like it's also worth pointing out that while we've had similarly crowded TARDISes before (Amy/Rory/River is probably the most comparable team) they've never been announced this way, i.e. all at once instead of a primary companion being announced first and then tagalongs later -- it gives me hope that this isn't going to be a primary companion + tagalongs situation, but multiple companions being given the same weight.)
Also they just seem wonderful? That photo of the three of them with Jodie just put stars in my eyes. THEY LOOK SO PERFECT TOGETHER.I don't think I've seen any of them in anything before (Wikipedia informs me I saw Bradley Walsh in The Sarah Jane Adventures and that Tosin Cole was in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but to be perfectly honest I retain very little memory of either of their characters) and that's really my preferred position to be in with new companions.
(And I feel like I would be remiss if I didn't mention that there was a lot of speculation about the gender of the next companion once Jodie was announced -- it's a role that's traditionally been overwhelmingly filled by women, and was the BBC going to continue that tradition or feel they needed to balance a female Doctor with a male companion? I do think this was the best way to solve that issue, by having MULTIPLE COMPANIONS YES GOOD THANK YOU BBC/CHIBNALL/OTHER ENTITIES INVOLVED IN THE CASTING PROCESS.)
So, Yasmin, Ryan, and Graham, I cannot WAIT to meet you; I love you already and I think you and the Doctor are going to have fantastic adventures.
