Day 15 ♥ A fanfic

More or less chosen at random from the fics I love enough to put in my LJ memories:

The One Where They're All In A Rock Band, Young Wizards AU, by labellementeuse

This is fabulous. It's the only YW fic in my memories, which is a shame but is also a testament to how awesome it is. It is, as the title suggests, a band!AU; specifically, Nita, Kit, Dairine, and Mela in an indie rock band called Myriad. Roshaun is Japanese pop royalty, Ronan's a self-destructive Irish singer, Dair mixed for "technosynth solo artist MOTHERBOARD"...there's all sorts of nods to canon while preserving the integrity of the AU, and the characterization is dead on.

Only complaint: Way too short. I wish the author wrote more in this AU. Or that other people did; she's given permission!

Unrelated: I finished my initial read of AWoM on Saturday, but am holding off posting a reaction until I finish a (much slower) reread. Fast reads of new books are awesome because you get to devour the whole thing at once, but you do wind up missing things, so...reread!

I am rereading the Young Wizards books in preparation for A Wizard Of Mars. I love dduane's brain.

Anyway, the point is, I was doing this with the goal of finishing Wizards At War in time for the April release, but today I got a shipping notice that my copy is currently winging its way towards me, well ahead of when I expected. Which is cool and awesome and shiny but probably I will not finish my reread by the time it gets here, given that I've just started Deep Wizardry. The best-laid plans of mice and men, etc.

Also I reorganized my library and discovered that I can no longer find my copies of So You Want To Be A Wizard and Men At Arms, and am going a little bit crazy trying to track them down again.
