Happy 2023, several days late! I almost didn't bother posting this. But tradition is tradition, so even if I'm breaking it by being very late, at least I've got some stats to post.

2022 was very bad for me on several fronts, I hope it was better for you. And I hope 2023 is better!

According to last.fm, I listened to 7,730 tracks scrobbles in 2022, an average of 21 songs per day. I listened to 691 different artists, 465 different albums, and 3,038 distinct songs.

In 2022, I read 107 books according to Goodreads or 106 according to Storygraph, either way exceeding my goal of 100. I'm not 100% sure where the discrepancy is, but I suspect it's down to having reread something this year; both sites count rereads but I suspect Storygraph doesn't count it twice in the same year.

I don't track what I watch re: TV or movies anymore and I'm not going to stress myself trying to remember! Jodie regenerated and it was lovely and emotional. That was the big thing re: TV this year. Some other things happened on my other shows and it may or may not have happened in 2022. Who can say. I watched some movies and I have no idea when.

No live theatre for me this year, again.

It's been a bad year for reasons I would prefer not to go into. I have held down a job for a full year, which has been nice, particularly since it doesn't suck and people don't yell at me all day. Hopefully I will continue to hold it down for another full year. I have a couple trips scheduled in the spring which I am nervous and also hopeful about. I still have fears about plague but, you know. Can't be a shut-in forever.

I owe you a Doctor Who post; I just finished another two PDAs. Coming soon.

Happy New Year! May 2022 be better than 2021. The bar is on the floor, so hopefully we are able to step over it and not trip and fall.

I'm waiting for new Doctor Who to air and also to celebrate the roommate's birthday, so what better time to post my yearly media roundup?

According to last.fm, I listened to 10,686 tracks scrobbles in 2021, an average of 29 songs per day. I listened to 750 different artists, 666 different albums, and 4,793 distinct songs.

In 2021, I read 206 books, exceeding my goal of 150.

I don't track what I watch on TV anymore so we're going to be relying on my questionable memory for this next part!

Trying to remember what movies I watched this year is an exercise in futility. Some standouts, though: In The Heights, which I've been waiting AGES for and which lived up to the hype; tick tick...BOOM!, ditto (I cried buckets); the Come From Away proshot, which also made me cry. Other than that? No idea. I know I've seen more movies than that! But what they were, whether they were this year or last year or 2016, no clue.

No live theatre for me this year, although Broadway and tours opened up (with multiple cancellations and early closures and just...yeah). One day.

It's been a weird year. I started two new jobs. The first was a temporary position, although turned out to be more temporary than I thought going on. The second will hopefully be permanent; I really like it so far, although it's only been a few weeks (and after two weeks of training I left for a week to go see my family for Christmas! they were very understanding. I was very nervous about traveling in these Covid times, but I took all due precautions -- 3 doses of Pfizer, everyone in my family is vaxxed, double masked in all public areas -- and I have now returned home Covid free). It's very nice to be out of customer-facing positions because I really hated the job I had before where I got yelled at by customers all day. Now I go all day either without talking to anyone or just occasionally talking to my coworkers. It's SO NICE. I'd still rather be working in theatre but, you know, health insurance and job security and Covid. We make choices about priorities.

I still owe you a couple Doctor Who posts, one about the two PDAs I've read most recently and one about a couple Big Finish audios I want to talk about, but I've just been very busy and stressed with things and I want to make sure I can actually do them justice. They're coming. Sometime. Soon. Promise.

Happy new year! 2020 is dead. May it stay that way.

I know time is a social construct but it's nice to get to bury 2020.

I'm mostly just waiting for new Doctor Who so I figured I'd take the opportunity to do my yearly media roundup post and also take the opportunity to shoutout Yuletide -- I both wrote and received in the same fandom, the teenage love trilogy from Taylor Swift's folklore album; soupytwist wrote me the absolutely gorgeous the hope of it all taking on the story from the perspective of the narrator of august, and giving her so much room to grow and breathe and connect, and everyone should read it; I got to write I Don't Know Anything (But I Know I Miss You) for hernameinthesky exploring things from James's side and indulging in my feelings a bit.

Every year I do this media roundup of stuff I've read/listened to/watched the last year. Why? I don't know. It interests me. I like patterns.

In 2020 I read 173 books, exceeding my Goodreads goal of 150 books.

In music news, last.fm informs me that I listened to 6547 scrobbles in 2019.

According to trakt.tv I watched 776 hours of TV this year! They don't give me any other stats and that may not be accurate because I don't pay for their app, but it's good enough!

I have literally no idea how many movies I watched this year. The only ones that stand out are the ones I watched most recently. Go watch Wolfwalkers (available on Apple TV), it's amazing and Cartoon Saloon needs the support. I liked the Prom (available on Netflix), but if you're not super into musicals you probably won't be into it. I finally got the chance to see The Band's Visit after loving the musical adaptation; the original movie is just as gorgeous. Oh, and I saw Hamilton! Like everyone else.

As far as live theatre goes, before Covid19 shut everything down, I did see the national tours of Waitress and The Play The Goes Wrong at the very beginning of the year. (I was scheduled to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as well. Tickets were rescheduled, and then cancelled. Can't say I was surprised or particularly that that was the last show of my season tickets.) I loved both shows, but probably loved The Play That Goes Wrong slightly more. The way the set is used? *chef's kiss*

One day there will be widespread live theatre again. I'm sure.

Happy new year, and may we all survive to see it through to another one!

Happy 2020! Hopefully it's an improvement on 2019.

Some media stats and thoughts on 2019:

I read exactly 200 books in 2019, which was exactly my goal!

Happy New Year! I'm very tired right now, but I wanted to do my yearly roundup of media consumed while I'm waiting for access to the new Doctor Who special.

We've made it to 2019. We'll see what this one brings us.

Last monthly post of 2017! I don't know if I'm going to bother with this in 2018, but at least it got me looking more closely at what I did with 2017. Full-year roundup coming soon.

How'm I doing at the whole "posting on time" thing? I'd like to blame Nanowrimo but given that I've written less than 2k words, I feel like I can't.
