Given that I haven't watched Glee in two seasons or so, save for a YouTube clip of 2Cellos' guest appearance, it's probably weird how fascinated I am by the current Glee-related drama. But fascinated I am.

I am specifically talking about Glee ripping off Jonathan Coulton's cover of Sir Mix-A-Lot's "Baby Got Back".

It's just so bizarre. Did they really think they were going to get away with plagiarizing a well-known musician whose fans include any number of music and tech geeks who can prove the theft? Especially when they didn't even bother to remove the line where JoCo actually names himself in the lyrics, OMG.

I mean it's even looking like they didn't even bother rerecording the arrangement, they just used his karaoke track, which is ... I mean there's lazy theft and then there's that.

What.

Clips from the upcoming episode of Doctor Who. AMY. She's fab. ♥

First-Person Tetris. It is really hard but also fantastic. Thank you, xkcd rss feed, you always share awesome things with me.

Lostpedia theorizes about this week's episode. Lostpedia, y'all are awesome.

Related: Here is my possibly-spoilery-but-not-really prediction: not really spoilery, but what the hell )

Also related: Look, I has a shiny new LOST icon!

Finally, this week's Daisy Owl is possibly too adorable for words.

Scroll partway down this entry for an adorable story of when Randall Munroe met Neil Gaiman, but not the reverse. Awww.

Also linked to in that entry is this edit of the recent heartbreaking xkcd comic about the Mars rover Spirit. The edited version is a lot less depressing.

...In non-Randall-Munroe-related stuff, have links to some YouTube videos I am currently enjoying!

Oceanic 815 - Side By Side, a comparison of the original crash of Oceanic 815 and the S6 altverse.

"Falling Slowly" Jennifer Damiano & Adam Chanler-Berat, er, what it says on the tin.

Endway - It's My Life - Live at Tainted Blue Studios, in which a band I love records a song I love.

A Goofy Movie - Stand Out (Max Version), why yes I am a total loser dork :D

Muppet Babies: I'll Be Blue For You song, Gonzo sings about Camilla, awww.

ETA: Now with new Side By Side With Susan Blackwell! With bonus Lin-Manuel Miranda! The awesomeness. It is almost too much.

This may be my new favorite website, although that might just be because I've spent the past forty-eight hours or so binging on the archives. Favorite Urban Pranks include The Future Shock (here told by the victim), Mark Jenkins' entire body of street installations but particularly The Last Graffiti Artist, Improv Everywhere's Welcome Back project, and the Boston Society Of Spontaneity's Riding the T is a beach. But basically I love most if not all of the posted pranks and art installations.

911 Writer's Block

Yesterday I e-mailed their public address about the issue. Today I got the form-letter that basically boils down to "IT WAS A MISTAKE WE'RE TRYING TO FIX IT NOW SORRY (ALSO, IT WASN'T JUST GLBT STUFF!)". I'm completely not convinced that they're telling the truth about it having been a "cataloging error" but if they're gonna fix it, at least that's something.

[livejournal.com profile] meta_writer is still on the case. Currently they're trying to collect a list of the books that are still delisted, so as to keep Amazon honest. (Well, as much so as possible.)

Twitter is still going nuts. The petition is up to 18,933 signatures at the time of this writing.

Feministing is calling out the glitch story as false.

Craig's Pop Life points out this has been going on to a lesser degree since February.

Dear Author explains metatagging.

ETA: SeattlePI defends the glitch story, explaining how it might've gone down.

ETA the second: Links via [livejournal.com profile] _chibidragon_ (thanks, [livejournal.com profile] _chibidragon_!): Gakwer and GalleyCat poke a few more holes in the "glitch" story.

Also, half.com is my new love.

The unfunnybusiness writeup of the fail

An affected writer explains the fail, and communications from Amazon

A handy links roundup

A list of the affected books

Amazon Rank

Another writeup, with contact information for Amazon

I'm really, really mad right now. Mostly because this is an incredible level of fail. Partly because I have a minor Amazon addiction and now I have to find another online retailer to replace that. Suggestions welcome. Also, spread the word of Amazon's incredible level of FAIL.
