I've posted two fics in the last five days, in two different fandoms, neither of which I'd ever written before!

...now watch me not write anything else I want to post for at least several months.

Serious but also really dumb question:

I hate looking at my Last.FM stats because of how much showtunes dominate my charts. Well, not because they're showtunes, more because Last.FM hates showtunes and thinks I should label them by individual performer instead of by show. I'm sorry but I'm not going to go through ~150GB of music and relabel everything by individual performer just to make Last.FM stop mislabeling everything. Nevertheless looking at the mislabeling makes me grind my teeth.

Would it be worth it to reset my playcounts on all the showtunes so they don't show up on my top charts anymore for a while? At least that way I wouldn't have to look at Last.FM getting snippy that I choose to label my recordings of Wicked as "Wicked" instead of "Idina Menzel, Kristin Chenoweth, and the Ensemble of Wicked" or whatever.

Look, I said this was a really dumb question...

And I'm trying to get all of my old untracked audios tracked which is only going to make the problem worse arrrrgh

I kinda suck at social media lately, and I'm sorry. :/ I think I've officially failed at my New Year's resolution to post here more often, even absolving myself of that whole land-of-no-Internet period. I HAVE TO GET BETTER AT THIS.

Things that are going on:

- Today I am relistening to old episodes of Animorphs: The Radio Drama (Uncensored!) because there are no new episodes because I feel like it. It's been a while. I'd almost forgotten how much I love these guys. I now kind of want to listen to them read one of the books while I follow along and annotate an e-book copy with their comments, but on the other hand that sounds like a lot of work for someone as lazy as me.

- Yuletide nominations start soon, and I am, indeed, planning to participate in Yuletide for the second time and nominations for the first time; SUPER EXCITING. (I may also have failed my write-more-fic resolution for the year. I don't remember what the exact wording of it was. But it hasn't exactly been a banner year for productivity.)

- It's almost time for first-run TV shows to come back! According to the app I depend on to tell me these things, Sleepy Hollow premieres in a week, Castle comes back in two weeks, Elementary comes back three days later, Once Upon A Time returns three days after that, and then a bit later Once Upon A Time In Wonderland and Almost Human premiere. So. That should give me stuff to post about. (Fingers crossed for greatness. Three new shows is a lot for me to try picking up at once; hopefully at least one hooks me, although it would be super awesome if they all do.) (Other new shows I am vaguely planning to try: Star-Crossed on the CW, because Robert Hewitt Wolfe on staff, and Girl Meets Boy, because Boy Meets World sequel, but I don't know when either one of them premieres). I am also super excited about spoilers I've seen for Elementary and Once Upon A Time; haven't seen spoilers for Castle, but fingers crossed there, too.

- It's still almost two months until NaNoWriMo but I'm getting nervous about it already. I have the bare bones of an idea and slightly more development on the two main characters; I keep poking at it and mostly coming up with things that aren't going to be useful (if they ever are) until I'm well into Plot.

- I am super behind on the marathoning-old-shows-that-are-new-to-me project (specifically HIMYM at the moment); for various personal reasons I kind of just lost momentum and haven't gotten back to it. I need to do that. That was a New Year's resolution, too. I need to accomplish at least a few of these things.

- In personal news, I'm still unemployed but have resumed trying to learn how to drive. So. Maybe that will be helpful.

- I apologize for the length of this post.

I get disproportionately annoyed when I randomly fall in love with an obscure band that is no longer together, go hunting their music, and discover that none of it is available digitally why are you preventing me from giving you money.

I mean, yes, okay, I could buy the actual physical CDs, but that involves paying shipping (or else ordering enough to achieve free shipping which works out to the same price -ish) and waiting for them to actually get here and I am a fan of spending the least amount of money possible + instant gratification.

Why are you thwarting me.

Why.

First, NaNo:

Recursive: Currently at 13,013 words and (hopefully temporarily) blocked. Luka is on the verge of death in a hallway no one else can get to and he doesn't have the energy to go anywhere else. I am not sure how this happened nor how I can fix it. SOMEHOW IT WILL GET FIXED. I hope.

One Spared To The Sea: Currently at 10,542 and despite being about 3K words behind Recursive I'm feeling a lot better about it at the moment. Kate and Máirín have finally met properly and Máirín's coat has been stolen and hidden and they are not getting along well at all. So, that's got a little momentum starting to build up.

Second, TV:

My Little Pony: Today's was a RARITY EPISODE. I AM SO HAPPY. Rarity and Sweetie Belle! Srs, this episode filled me with so many happy feelings I can't even express them. TO THE SPA.

Grimm: So I gave this a shot. Two episodes' worth, anyway. I'm not feeling it. I don't know if it's the characters, the concepts, or that I just don't need another vaguely supernatural-influenced crime procedural in my life, but I'm not feeling it. I might give it another episode to catch me or I might not.

Once Upon A Time: I also gave this two episodes' worth of a shot, and I'm loving it so far. Everything about it. The characters, the concept, the worldbuilding, the relationships, the potential. Although right now I'm kind of feeling like it would've been better off a self-contained miniseries, given the way the plot seems to be shaping up; I'm open to being proved wrong.

Psych: The superhero episode alternated between making me really happy (I love when the boys are massive dorks) and really annoyed (really, Tap Man? I know Gus loves his tap-dancing, but he loves his superheroes, too; he would've come up with something better). Still not enjoying the heavy-handedness of the Shawn/Juliet stuff, but whatever, it's not my ship and therefore I'm not the target audience. I still enjoy the show more than I get annoyed at it, so overall it's doing a lot better than most shows six seasons in.

Also, I've been doing sporadic marathons of Farscape and just finished season 4, and ARGH I FORGOT HOW AWESOME/HEART-BREAKING/SHOCKINGLY AMAZING "Bad Timing" IS. Everything from the "Previously On Farscape" montage to the silent credits. EVERYTHING ABOUT THAT EPISODE. Everything.
Now I just have the Peacekeeper Wars and I'll have finished my Farscape rewatch and won't have any excuse to put off shortening my "shows people keep recommending to me but I haven't watched yet" list.

So I am still not dead. YAY. I am teetering on the verge of complete burnout, though. :/ But in a week or so Illuminights ends and then stuff starts changing up so maybe a change of routine will help starve off that impending burnout.

I actually did have fandom-related stuff to talk about here, but I'm too tired to go into detail, so: bullet points!
♦ Alphas: Still really liking it. Enjoyed the focus on Rachel this week. She may be my favorite; might be too soon to tell.
♦ Torchwood: Getting less and less enthused each episode. It feels like they're treading the same water they did with COE only with EVEN MORE gratuitous torture porn.
♦ The Pretender: Have I mentioned that I've started watching this? No? Well, I've started watching The Pretender due to one of the guys I work with handing me the first season on DVD and telling me to watch it. My cultural backwardness, let me show you it. I am seven episodes in and enjoying it so far. Jared is endearing.
♦ Doctor Who: Yet another Season 6B trailer! OMG YAY. Is it time for new DW yet? *misses her show*
♦ ...no, wait, I think that might be it.

Did I miss anything?
chicafrom3: photo of the TARDIS (m: ed: big damn hero)
Okay, so, aside from my laptop and assorted small things I will need tonight and tomorrow morning, I'm all packed, I think? Tomorrow I'm moving into a hostel room in Williamsburg, Tuesday I'm planning to spend checking the bus route between the hostel and the park and getting a feel for that, Wednesday is my Orientation, and then I am officially employed and whatever.

I'm nervous. Is that at all obvious?

23. From the musical which everyone should see performed live.

"Housewares Employee", Evil Dead: The Musical. And when you go see it performed live, make sure you're sitting in the splatter zone.
That was an amazing night, I have to tell you.

Finished watching S2 of Merlin, so, ~accomplished. I'm the slowest TV watcher everrrr. I'm not terribly happy about the way certain plotlines are going, but I'll cope, I guess; on to S3!

I also got the new Endway album today, whee. It's really good. Current favorite track: the reworked version of "It's Alright". Second favorite: "Love Sick Remedy". (PSA: It's currently available on their website for free download, today only, if you're interested. Yes, I will continue to promote the band I love that no one else I know listens to until the end of time, okay?)
chicafrom3: photo of the TARDIS (tv: dw: river song)
Thought about changing my layout to something focusing on River Song's awesome Time Of Angels shoes, and also the Kirsty MacColl song "In These Shoes?", but can't seem to make the concept work for me. Sad. So this is mainly a warning that my layout may change in the next couple days, but for now we're stayin' with Yunjin Kim.

I feel so uncreative right now.
chicafrom3: photo of the TARDIS (t: ttb: no rainbow)
Everybody knows the popular romantic image of the lighthouse keeper, right? Living alone in the tower, maintaining the light to bring ships in safely.

I would rock that job.

...sadly, if it was ever a real thing, it isn't anymore. Contemporary lighthouse keepers' jobs are more "tour guide for that percentage of the population interested in lighthouses", which is not a job I would rock.

Cater to meeeeeeee, world. *insert tragic face here*

THIS IS MY EXCITED CAPSLOCK

So our Internet was down basically all yesterday, but that is completely secondary to the fact that when my brother came home from work he brought a copy of Windows 7 with him and installed it on Sally, my beloved laptop. !!!! I forgive him every bad thing he's ever done to me.

Windows 7 is basically amazing and I am already in love.

I'm still replacing a bunch of programs, mourning the loss of a couple others, and copying files from my EHD backup back onto my internal drive. But this is a necessary part of moving on to a new step in my operating-system life. And it is an awesome new step.
chicafrom3: photo of the TARDIS (t: r: adam doesn't need a script!)
This is my one thousandth LJ post. AWESOME. Or a sign that I have no life. Whichever.

Dance gif party under the cut to celebrate!

this party will murder your dialup )

Sharing is encouraged!

...also putting this together has made me realize that I severely lack in LOST gifs. Uh. Anyone know of a good source?
