The X-Files 10x04 Home Again )

In other news I continue to get weirded out every time Scully calls Mulder "Fox" or he calls her "Dana". No, that's wrong. Stop it.

Fox is bringing the X-Files back.

For six episodes.

With Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny.

I am flailing so hard right now omg.

And now for some mood whiplash! But c'mon, every show should do a big, splashy musical episode.

Psych idk the numbers The Musical )

OH MY GOD THEY'RE IMMEDIATELY RERUNNING IT GUESS WHO IS WATCHING IT AGAIN?

OH MY GOD

Will someone talk about this with me? Anyone? I NEED TO TALK ABOUT THIS.

"I'm a Doctor...but probably not the one you're expecting."

Today's mail brought two packages from Amazon addressed to me, which was very confusing because I haven't ordered anything from Amazon since, IDK, early August? Or something? I do have a pre-order in but that's not scheduled to ship until December (and it keeps getting pushed back so I may not get it until next year sometime).

So I opened them and found the Tiffany Aching books in paperback, Once Upon A Time on Blu-Ray, and a note from my brother apologizing for missing my birthday by two months.

JOSHUA.

YOU ARE FORGIVEN.

Holy shit, I think this is the first Tony reaction post I've ever made where tears of joy beat every other reaction.

cut to spare your flist )

Also, for the Doctor Who fans on my flist who do not care about the Tonys, you missed James Corden on an American stage receiving a Tony Award with a speech that included the line, "She's my baby mama and I can't wait to marry her."
That's right, you missed the opportunity to hear Craig Owens use the phrase "baby mama".

The bad: I hit up the local Barnes & Noble intending to use the gift card in my money clip to get caught up on the three Animorphs re-releases I didn't yet own. But they didn't have The Encounter. Curse you, B&N! Are you prejudiced against hawks? Is that what this is?
I did pick up The Message and The Predator, though. And spent entirely too long dwelling over the DVR reference and the change from "Mr. Rodger's Neighborhood" to "Sesame Street" in the beginning of The Message.

The AWESOME ENOUGH TO MAKE ME FORGET BARNES & NOBLE'S UNFAIR DISLIKE OF RED-TAILED HAWKS:

Two missing Doctor Who episodes have been recovered! They are not episodes from serials noted for their high writing quality, but WHO CARES ONE/VICKI/STEVEN AND TWO/BEN/POLLY/JAMIE I AM SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW

SO HAPPY

I honestly didn't really expect them to find any more of the missing episodes in my lifetime, but THERE YOU GO, TWO OF THEM AT ONCE.

Clearly we need to be running Public Service Announcements and getting people to scour their attics and basements and storage closets looking for other episodes.

(THERE IS A CLIP OF THE RECOVERED GALAXY 4 EPISODE here and it is AMAAAAAAAAZING, OH VICKI ILU AND OH HARTNELL YOU ARE MAGIC)

Warning: Excessive Animorphs squee and flail ahead.

Seriously, guys, if you have any love for Animorphs at all, go check out Scholastic's new website. They have pictures of all the cover models so you can actually see what they look like!

(Verdict: The Tobias model is...ehhhh. :| But oh man I really love the new Rachel model. She's perfect. Marco is awful. At least he's smirking, that's a good sign, but other than that he doesn't look like Marco at all. Cassie is almost perfect but needs a haircut; Cassie does not have long hair. Jake is fine, I have no strong feelings about him either way.)

slightly more spoilery thoughts from the character profiles. Can you have spoilers for a nineties kids' book series that is now being updated for the new millennium? )

The "morph a character" animations are...pretty ridiculously awful.

According to the "Which morph are you?" quiz, I'm Tobias. COLOR ME SURPRISED.

The discussion guide is fantastic, omg. I'm laughing to myself about the questions so much. So so much.

Also, the official book trailer, which is also hilarious and awesome, and you can order the first two books from Scholastic's website and they'll ship now, despite Amazon listing them as not released until May; a few people on [livejournal.com profile] animorphs have already gotten their copies. (I just ordered mine today and I am so excited omg. When they get here you will be subjected to even more of my dorkish nineties-kid squee.)

You know, I thought I was past this stage in my life but evidently not: I LOVE YOU, SCHOLASTIC.

Final (probably) word count: 53380

OMGWTF

I think I'm done.

I mean the ending is kind of weird and I'm not sure I like it, and there's still the problem with the last few thousand words setting up a sequel hook I'm unlikely to ever deliver on, and it certainly needs an awful lot of editing, but it's a 50,000+ word story with all the required parts to be a story, i.e., a beginning, a middle, and an end.

This may be a first for me.

Endings ... are not my strong point, I think is the general gist I'm trying to get across here.

*celebrates*

HI LET ME TELL YOU ALL A STORY

It's tonight, a little after eleven. I'm in the front room, which is also the living room, which is also where I spend most of my time because the coffee table doubles as my computer desk. Both my parents are upstairs, asleep. The lights are on, the TV is on, I'm surfing the Internet and getting irritated that my LJ notifs are coming through really slowly. (FIX THAT, LJ.)

And then someone knocks on the door.

It is after eleven. I am the only one up.

My heart may have almost stopped.

There is a moment while I try to figure out what to do. I can't pretend like nobody's up; as mentioned, the lights and TV are on, and plainly visible from the front door. First thought is to go upstairs, wake up my dad, and make him take care of it. But then some part of my brain tries to reason "Hey, maybe it is your little brother unexpectedly turning up for a weekend at home!" which my little brother does sometimes. And the door is dead-bolted, so if it was him, he wouldn't be able to let himself in. So in the end I decide to open the door just a little to see who it is.

It turns out it's a guy from Delta delivering my mom's misplaced luggage. He is very nice and apologizes for scaring me but didn't want to leave it on the porch. Our neighborhood is not a good neighborhood for leaving things out in the open, so I appreciate this thought. I sign for the suitcase, we joke about how GPS never sends people to the right house when given our address, he goes away and I close and re-bolt the door and that's the end of a fairly anticlimactic story.

But that is the tale of how Chica nearly had a heart attack today.

The End.
