Also, RENT is closing. The ONTD comments are full of vitrol, which partially amuses me and partially confuses me and mostly just reminds me of something that's always confused me, which is the perception that all the main characters are steadfastly against getting an actual job. Because I just don't get that. Joanne's a lawyer, Mimi works regular hours (at a strip club, admittedly, but still it's a job), Collins is on-again-off-again employed in academia, Mark holds a job at Buzzline for part of the show, and it's not like any of their friends bitch at them that they're selling out...Okay, yeah, they bitch at Benny for it. But that has more to do with his marrying into money and considering himself better than them and breaking promises than his ability to work for a paycheck. And yet every time I see somebody complain about the show, it's always "No, assholes, working an actual job for a paycheck isn't selling out!" when...I don't get the vibe that the characters think that's the problem.

RENT's been on my mind a lot lately and I'm not sure why. But the idea of the Nederlander on Broadway without RENT is just breaking my heart right now. Especially with that godawful Rent Remixed still in London.

Iiiiii feel like I've been run over by a truck. Good times. I hate being vaguely sick. I'd almost rather be blatantly sick, because then at least you know what's wrong and people sympathize and let you stay in bed all day and not wonder out loud why you're curled up in a tiny ball on the couch. *flail*

Note to self: When someone gives you a handful of sugar, it's perfectly okay to mention that you were just listening to "tick tick...BOOM!" which contains a love song to sugar. It's not so okay to segue into a total synopsis, cast analysis, and comparison to "RENT".

Yeah, I really do have a problem with giving people wayyyyyy more information than they needed. I can't help it! That's just the way my brain works!


Formally started work on "Dracula" today. Ran sound for tonight's rehearsal, but starting tomorrow (at 10AM...) I'll be the light op. No, I'm not getting paid for this. But it's my last chance to work on a Regis show as a Regis student, and I get to work with Amanda (coworker Amanda, not roommate Amanda), and Natalie and Sam are both in the cast, and, yeah. Besides, what else am I going to do with my time...seeing as I don't have an outside job yet... *is depressing*


Yesterday: intense migraine and nausea. Went to bed at 6. Didn't get up until 8 this morning. That's 14 hours in bed. Yeah.


In less depressing news, it's holiday season again! If you've posted a wishlist, let me know. ladyfiresprite, I have yours bookmarked and am contemplating what I can get you. I...don't have anything fannish to talk about except for the strike and I promised myself I wouldn't talk about that in this post. But, yeah. I'm horribly behind on Heroes and need to get caught up (question, flist: is it worth the bother of getting caught up? should I just start watching with this next episode and hope everything I missed was of no consequence? or are Matt/Mohinder/Molly adorable enough to make it worth watching all the episodes I missed?). PD and DSM didn't air this week. And...that's all I'm watching first-run right now.

No, wait! That's not true! I'm also watching SJA, and I am caught up on that, and all I can say is: Sarah Jane is LOVE. Young!Sarah included in that. I am a little bit in love with Alan and hopes he admits to his crush on Sarah v. soon and then maybe they fall in love and Maria and Luke can be sibs ys? Also I am confused as to whether I should ship Clyde with Luke or Maria because either has the potential to be ridiculously cute. In a nonsexual-young-person way. Ys? Or am I creepy for thinking about shipping them at all?

Also: How long 'til we get Raul back on Pushing Daisies? I want my Cheno/Esparza duet, dammit.


I want to write fic but words are not coming to me. :( It's v. sad, ys. I also kind of want to vid--I have two Sweet Charity vids to do--but my two bidders haven't gotten back to me on music choices/themes/etc. And I don't feel right working on an impulse vid while having the SC vids hanging over my head. Does that make sense or is it just my Catholic guilt kicking in again?


On the bright side, I've been listening to a ton of music lately and have almost completed my goal of making sure that all 5000+ songs in my iTunes have at least one playcount. The fact that I keep adding music while trying to reach this goal doesn't help, but I believe I can make it!!


(Oh! And another RL note: Regis is offering some RIDICULOUSLY AWESOME classes next semester. Including a literature class that lists "Princess Bride" and "Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency" on the reading list, and a sci-fi film class. *flails* This is OF COURSE the semester AFTER I graduate. Of course, they couldn't offer these RIDICULOUSLY AWESOME classes while I was here to take them... *sigh*)

It's over. :( :( How come I'm always sad when a show ends and I have time to sleep and eat and do homework and mundane stuff like that again?

ANYWAY. It was probably the least-cursed show I have ever worked on. I mean OMG nobody got severely injured (Steve cut his hand up a little bit but not even that much) and there were no huge mistakes during any of the shows and it was seriously a ninja-bunny strike. ALSO OMG, the woman who played Benjamin in the original tour of The Yellow Boat happened to be at Regis on business...she runs an Internet company or something with her husband now...anyway, she saw our posters advertising the show and came down to talk to Steve and Wendy and then she and her husband attended today's show, watched it, and led a post-show discussion with our audience. *flail* HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN? That's like, serendipity or something.

I stole one of the No Dolls and got everybody in the cast and crew to sign it. Usually I get everybody to sign a program for me but it felt right to use the doll instead. It's so adorable, though; Meaghan C. made sure to draw an arrow to the doll's face with the note "I DREW THIS!" And the cast gave me a flower and a really sweet card and we all hugged a lot and I maybe cried a little bit. I can't believe this is my last stage management experience as a Regis student. :(

I have, however, been formally offered a paid position as stage manager for Pippin this spring. Of course, in order to take this job I will need a place to live and an additional steady job somewhere else. *flail* Does anybody live in Boston who needs a roommate? *hopeful*

And in other news, Rent Remixed is crack. *flail* I mean, no, obviously I am not making a judgment on the show based on listening to one audio recording, and will not comment as to whether I like it or not just yet. But it is CRACK. I mean, "Out Tonight" as a burlesque number? "What You Own" as a ballad? *flails more* It's so bizarre.


And I am considering buying this, because my EHD, as much as I love it, is rapidly starting to run out of space. :(

Rewatched the Rent movie, just 'cause.

Is it just me, or does the movie have some really freaking huge subtext between Roger and Collins? *flail* Does no one else see all the touching and snuggling and the looks they give each other? How come I can never find any Roger/Collins fic, friendship or romance? Why is it that once you discount the canon pairings, it's all Roger/Mark and Collins/Maureen (and sometimes Collins/Mark)?
