It's over. :( :( How come I'm always sad when a show ends and I have time to sleep and eat and do homework and mundane stuff like that again?

ANYWAY. It was probably the least-cursed show I have ever worked on. I mean OMG nobody got severely injured (Steve cut his hand up a little bit but not even that much) and there were no huge mistakes during any of the shows and it was seriously a ninja-bunny strike. ALSO OMG, the woman who played Benjamin in the original tour of The Yellow Boat happened to be at Regis on business...she runs an Internet company or something with her husband now...anyway, she saw our posters advertising the show and came down to talk to Steve and Wendy and then she and her husband attended today's show, watched it, and led a post-show discussion with our audience. *flail* HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN? That's like, serendipity or something.

I stole one of the No Dolls and got everybody in the cast and crew to sign it. Usually I get everybody to sign a program for me but it felt right to use the doll instead. It's so adorable, though; Meaghan C. made sure to draw an arrow to the doll's face with the note "I DREW THIS!" And the cast gave me a flower and a really sweet card and we all hugged a lot and I maybe cried a little bit. I can't believe this is my last stage management experience as a Regis student. :(

I have, however, been formally offered a paid position as stage manager for Pippin this spring. Of course, in order to take this job I will need a place to live and an additional steady job somewhere else. *flail* Does anybody live in Boston who needs a roommate? *hopeful*

And in other news, Rent Remixed is crack. *flail* I mean, no, obviously I am not making a judgment on the show based on listening to one audio recording, and will not comment as to whether I like it or not just yet. But it is CRACK. I mean, "Out Tonight" as a burlesque number? "What You Own" as a ballad? *flails more* It's so bizarre.

And I am considering buying this, because my EHD, as much as I love it, is rapidly starting to run out of space. :(

Tonight is opening night! And I will not be eating dinner because I haven't the time. (No, seriously. I have class from 3:15-5:45 and have called my crew for 5:45 because we need the time to get the plastic screen shrink-wrapped, the stage mopped, and so on.)

Boston folks: Come to Weston this weekend for a great, emotional show! Thursday through Saturday at 7:30, with additional matinees on Saturday and Sunday at 2:00.

Some random factoids about this show:

Tallest member of our cast: the thirteen-year-old boy who's playing an eight-year-old
Length of show: almost exactly one hour
Number of lighting cues: approximately 115
Number of music cues: 19, not counting volume changes within sound cues
Number of dolls created specifically for this show: nine
Number of set pieces: five (three toy boxes/flats, one boat, one chair that gets moved on solely for the hospital scenes)
Number of cast members: six (three Regis students, one thirteen-year-old, one Regis alum, one professional actor)
Number of crew members running show: six (one stage manager (me!), one sound tech, one light tech, two backstage hands, one house manager, all Regis students)
Number of tests what I have blown because of this show: one, probably. Today's Brit Writers midterm. *flail* I barely finished, I'm so tired and I can't think about anything but this show...

The cast and crew party will be after tomorrow night's show. Strike will, obviously, be after Sunday afternoon's show, and shouldn't take long. It will take even less time if Evan tells us which flats he wants us to leave up for Dracula (the show that comes in after us--Evan is T.D.ing it).

On Monday I will be DEAD. Just so you're all forewarned. Then again, after Monday my brain will be my own again and this journal will probably return to being mostly fandom-squee. Like, I seriously have to squee about Olive/Alfredo soon and my hope that they get a musical number together and cry about Juliet and Jeremy's breakup and so forth. But later. When The Yellow Boat releases my brain.

...theatre humor is so inappropriate. :D

Instead of doing homework like I should have done and like I'm still not doing after work and before rehearsal, I vegged out and watched my new Hair DVD. OMG I LOVE RAÚL SO MUCH. And him singing "Hair"? SO MUCH LOVE. If those jeans were any tighter they would cut off circulation, and grabbing his crotch on the line "Down to there"? SO MUCH LOVE. *dies*

(Major props also to Adam, Julia, Shoshana, Jai, and Lillias, but OMG RAÚL.)

Anna meme (from [livejournal.com profile] fandom_meme), because I am a meme whore:

Choose 12 characters and put them in a numbered list. Once you've chosen, go behind the cut and grab these questions to answer them. No peeking until your list is complete!

And because I'm in a Mood (specifically exhausted), characters I don't usually throw onto these lists!

1. Penny Widmore (Lost)
2. Doyle (Andromeda)
3. Ian Chesterton (Doctor Who)
4. Jeremy Darling (Dirty Sexy Money)
5. Olive Snook (Pushing Daisies)
6. Florence Vassy (Chess)
7. The Archive (Dresden Files)
8. River Tamm (Firefly)
9. Juliet O'Hara (Psych)
10. Quinn Mallory (Sliders)
11. Joanie (Black Donnellys)
12. Rhys Williams (Torchwood)

the questions )

And from [livejournal.com profile] fannish5: What lost episodes (or lost issues, or cut scenes) would you most like to see discovered?

1. Doctor Who: The Celestial Toymaker
2. Doctor Who: The Massacre of St Bartholomew's Eve
3. Doctor Who: The Macra Terror
4. The Black Donnellys: ANYTHING EVER
5. Newsies: all those scenes that originally gave Sarah a personality

People should not schedule dry tech and cue-to-cue to be on the same day and separated only by an hour. That hour break will not happen and dry tech will not be complete by the time cue-to-cue starts.

All right, all right, to be fair, it was a relatively painless cue-to-cue especially considering that when it started we had less than half of the show programmed into the light board. And that we were simultaneously training the sound tech and the lighting tech, neither of whom are at all familiar with running a show and halfway make me wish I was doing all the crew work myself except then I would truly be dead. I would be worried about the state of the Regis' theater's tech crew after I leave except I WON'T BE HERE ANYMORE and therefore I don't have to care. Haha. I'm evil, I guess.

We open on Thursday. *flail muchly*

Comment and I'll pick seven of your icons, and then you will explain why you love/are using the icon (who doesn't love talking about their icons, seriously) and then post your explanation/this meme in your journal for other people to squee about their icons, and basically it will be a huge squeefest of love and 100x100 square pixels.

Hey, do you know what is totally NOT made of win? A four-hour power blackout followed by another twelve hours of internet what refuses to work. *growls at the school*

And then, and then, once the power comes back (but before the internet connection does) trying to boot up your laptop only to have it totally fail to respond, panic, spend frantic moments checking power cords and the room lights to make sure there's no reason why the power shouldn't be working, panicking more, walking downstairs to get a drink while continuing to panic and think about how you'll survive if your laptop is really and truly dead, then getting back to your room and realizing that the power strip cord was knocked out of the wall, which is also the reason why your phone has stopped charging and the TV won't turn on. Yes. I am an utter ditz who nearly talked myself into a heart attack.

(Also uncool? Being offline for sixteen-plus hours and then logging into your e-mail to discover a mere five new messages. *sigh* Yes, I'm an e-mail whore.)

I can't bear to face getting caught up on my friendslist because I'm In A Mood, so if you posted anything in, say, the last twenty-four hours that you think I should see, drop me a link and I will check it out.

On brighter notes, Yellow Boat has almost all of its props now! Yay! We still need the Frankenstein bolts. And the dolls are getting made on Wednesday during my Theatre For Young Audiences class. And minor adjustments need to be made to some of the props (clipboards need to be painted, finger puppet needs a grass skirt sewn on, that sort of thing) but this is well and truly Progress. Which is good, 'cause it's October now and we open on the eighteenth.

The cast is supposed to be off-book tonight. I laugh and cringe simultaneously and am somewhat grateful I will miss a large chunk of tonight's rehearsal for class.

Link of the moment: a post connecting Chess and xkcd, two of my Greatest Loves Ever. :D :D :D

And Randall blogs about the xkcd meetup!

No classes tomorrow, but I do have work starting at 9AM.

And, um. Yeah, that's about it. Mostly I'm still sulking about the power/Internet outage. I deserve a good sulk, I think.
