So! Doctor Who spoilers, eh?


Jenna-Louise Coleman is very cute, seems very enthusiastic, and from the YouTube clips I googled, she seems talented as well. So marks in her favor!

...Until we get actual character spoilers, that's about all I can say about her. But you know me. I'm all about preemptively loving the new companions. Because they all wind up being wonderful, that's why.

Obviously I have my own things I'm hoping for in regards to her character (lesbian alien, Moff, please, lesbian alien who flirts with River and who River flirts back with ... ) although one of my major hopes has already been dashed by the spoilers released today: Amy and Rory will be leaving the episode before Jenna's character is introduced, so no overlapping companions for Chica. Woe. One day a DW showrunner will remember how awesome overlapping companion teams are, I swear it.

As for the 'heartbreaking' 'not everyone will get out alive' exit for Amy and Rory... Moff is a lying liar who lies. Probably 'heartbreaking' means 'it's so sad that we're giving up the companions we've had for two and a half seasons, even though at least they'll be happy together', and 'not everyone will get out alive' could very well mean 'I'm killing off extras who never speak in the episode'.

...Please?

...I hate waiting for things.

If she turns out to be a lesbian alien who flirts with River all will be forgiven! Currently I'm kind of nervous about her casting though. It would've been nice to have a companion who wasn't a white female in her twenties. But maybe she's from a different era! Or another planet! There is hope.

I will mourn the lost potential of overlapping companion teams with you.

Also, obviously Moff is lying to us. He doesn't know how to kill characters. He's incapable. Right?

There's still so much potential with her character, and the fact that they're being so completely mum about details gives me hope that there's something unusual. Someone was saying they wanted her to be from the '60s, to tie into the 50th-anniversary lead-in, and that would be cool too.

Also, obviously Moff is lying to us. He doesn't know how to kill characters. He's incapable. Right?
