Hey hey I live in Yorkshire pick me! I don't know why he said 'by' twice, as that is not the phrase, but maybe there are aliens called 'eebyes' or something and he's making a pun? I can only imagine that it makes more sense in context.

'Ee by gum' does have a meaning but it's not very specific. It's basically an expression of mild surprise or bewilderment, but also a sort of catch-all, like 'gosh'. So you could say 'ee by gum!' when your whippet gets bitten by a ferret wearing a flat cap, or 'ee by gum I'm right weary' if you've had a bit of a long day. Perfunctory googling suggests that 'by gum' doesn't originate in the north, it used to be widely-used and mean the same sort of thing as 'by jove', it's just that northerners are the only people who still use it. 'Ee' is basically just a northern version of 'oh'. The two together, though, form a recognised idiom.

If you've read this far I salute you, I probably could have said that a lot more succinctly...

I watched it the first time and missed about half because I was going "HOLY SHIT OMG DOCTOR RIVER AMY RORY OMGGGG" so much; watched it again and caught more of it but not all; and then I started capping and got every single frame and flailed over each and every one. ;)

(Also I swear I watched that bit with Amy on the cliff about a million times, going "Is she...is she wearing a Ghostwriter pen? Can't be. A badge on a lanyard, maybe? No, it moved and it's the same thickness all around. It really looks like a pen. IS SHE WEARING A GHOSTWRITER PEN?" Clearly we have discovered the secret truth to Amy's past: she was the Scottish auxiliary to the Ghostwriter team.)

I appreciate you pointing out all the neat things I missed in the caps (like the RTD era TARDIS console room. Also there were a lot of creepy dolls, weren't there? I thought we had enough creepy dolls last season).

I am so excited for a married couple in the TARDIS. This dynamic is going to be great.

That's my theory, too, though I wonder how they're going to work that into continuity. (Moff leaves a note in the production offices somewhere that says 'in 20xx, Matt needs to grow a beard in character' and hopes that either he's still writing then or whoever is writing then pays attention to the note?) I overthink things too much. There's definitely some kind of timeskip involved, though.

The RTD era console room. Heard quite awesome rumours that we're looking at the auxiliary control room.

But I've heard equally awesome rumours that it's another TARDIS entirely... which fits rather well with the apparent continued existence of the cracks. Fail at blowing The Doctor's TARDIS up, find another one. Or build another one... which then stalks James Corden! SQUEE!

BUT WHAT IS EXPLODING? AND WHY IS THE SEAT MISSING?


The spiny River scene has a Silent in the background! Perhaps the Silents are the Force Lightning people! OH! Speaking of them, you need to watch the TV trailers CAREFULLY! Both BBC and BBC America are showing two versions of their trailers at random, some have Silents in the background, some don't.

Have you seen their faces from the BBCA trailer? Because they look like something else... which if true is more terrifying than I can handle.
