I watched this on BBC America with both siblings and my dad in the room, so I'm pretty sure I missed Important Things due to having to explain basic details of the show to them. That said:

I love Wilf. I love Wilf so much.

I quite like Donna's new boy, too.

Also, yay crazy OTT Master! I don't care, I enjoy him being nuts all over the place.

I would like to say that I'm sure the plot would make Complete Sense if I hadn't missed things explaining basic details of the show to my family, but I am in fact not sure of this, and have severe feelings that part 2 will be a trainwreck of Rule Of Cool. I could be proved wrong! Rusty might have a plan in mind to actually have his cliffhanger season ending episodes make sense for once!

Well, I mean, they sort of explained the superpowers and crazy eating (resurrection gone wrong, burning up energy like whoa), but they only explained why, not how.

Is it just me, or was that resurrection scene painfully cheesy and bad?

It was such an example of Rule of Cool, which didn't go over well with me.

However, I love the Master, and it had a lot of lulz factor (often unintentional, like the RANDOM FLYING), and... 1) Master on a leash, 2) Master in drag. Also, Time Lords.

So I don't hate it. I love me some Master.

RTD has a bad tendency to get way caught up in Rule of Cool and What Do You Mean It's Not Epic and... he just basically throws a lot of stuff he thinks is cool at the wall, hoping some of it will stick.

It feels like this episode was bits of twenty different stories thrown together with no regard for an actual coherent narrative. :/

Agreed. I also love how the Time Lords are batshit insane, and quite obviously not good guys this time. I mean, they've never been bad guys, have they, really?

I feel it necessary to point out that you totally called the 'Return Of The Evil And Possibly BATSHIT CRAZY! Time Lords' a couple years back.

I can't find the actual post on your lj, but we talked ages ago about how RTD tries to be MOAR EPICZ with the bad guy each season and you said that evil Time Lords were quite likely because... well because they were basically evil but not quite on the level of the Daleks, but still evil but tolerated because they don't go around shouting 'EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE!' but go 'RAWR! Lets end time for victory and teh lulz and FOR GALLIFREY!' which is more tolerable ....and how its only after the Time Lords were gone that the Doctor got all emo and missed them... AND YOU SAID RTD WOULD BRING THEM BACK EVENTUALLY FOR THE EPIC WIN! Because seriously who can you top Davros and the manically giggling Dalek with?

Therefore I believe you have a win and are entirely entitled to several batches of cookies. I'm also extremely drunk and while this post made perfect sense to me, I doubt it will to you or anyone else!

Oh yeah and what is the difference between the end of reality itself and the end of time? Or is RTD RECYCLING?!
