Ahem. Anyway.
Any episode that starts with Penny is a Good Episode, yo.
The accents this episode were all over the map, yo. Specifically Charles Widmore -- who at one point sounded so New Zealand I had to giggle -- and baby!Charlotte -- who was just unintentionally hilarious, omg, worst British accent ever. Not to mention that I have NO IDEA why Dan has an American accent, given that he appears to have been raised in Britain by his very English mother. Or why the Others have such a range of British, New Zealand, and American accents.
Also, I love all the crazy WTF faces this episode. "I'm from THE FUTURE." WTF-face. "He's YOUR SON." WTF-face. "My mother's A HOSTILE." WTF-faces plural. "I'm YOUR SON." WTF-face. So many awesome WTF faces.
Fan theories confirmed! Eloise Hawking and Ellie the Hostile are the same person! Dan and Penny are half-siblings! (I assume half. I don't know, we know nothing about Penny's mom. Maybe they're full siblings. Weirder things have happened.)
An awful lot of Island residents play (or played) the piano, don't/didn't they?
I love how this episode slots into continuity, providing context for the Dan-inna-mine scene at the beginning of the season and even for Dan crying over the 815 report at the beginning of last season. Is the understanding that Eloise Hawking got Dan's diary and that's how she knew all about Things What Were Going To Happen and now the diary's not any use anymore?
Also, Dan referencing TV Tropes was cute, although probably more a product of my brain being destroyed by TVTropes than any actual intention by the writers.
I am, you may notice, not talking about how the episode ending. Because I refuse to believe it and am determined to believe that next week's episode will fix it. IT WILL GET FIXED, DAMMIT, THIS CANNOT BE ALLOWED TO STAND.
...I was hoping for the reappearance of some canon ghosts -- maybe Charlie, or Libby, or Shannon, or I'd even take Boone -- since this is the 100th episode, but all in all I enjoyed it. Aside from the ending. Which I refuse to accept until we are shown that they won't fix it. Which they will. THEY'LL FIX IT. I KNOW THEY WILL. I JUST KNOW IT.
Weirdly, I have difficulty remembering that Charlie is younger than Aaron. There's no reason for this. Aaron's been around as a character longer, we've seen him being older than Charlie, we've seen them both being born, they drop ages often enough. There's no reason for this mental confusion, but I do have to keep stopping and reminding myself that, oh yes, Aaron's older than Charlie. IDK.
