I was not feeling this episode. For entirely personal reasons, I admit. I mean, I can look at it and be like "this was a well-written, well-performed episode that added to the series mythology", but I was not feeling it.
Look, I have a severe embarrassment squick. Watching people act like idiots (drugged or not) isn't funny to me, it's painful.
There were moments I liked. Boyd's deadpan "Well, I did not stay in control of that situation." And how Topher's still a genius even when drugged to act like an idiot child. And the Caroline backstory bits were wonderful. And I liked Sam until he turned out to be evil. Is he going to be a regular active now? Will we see more of him? I liked him.
But, yeah, overall, not feeling the episode and won't be rewatching it anytime soon. The next one looks like it will be more my speed, though.
Also, I finally got around to watching the first four episodes of Kings and I'm kind of in love. I love the premise, it's very well-done. I'm shipping Jack/Joseph a lot. I think I maybe have self-destructive impulses when it comes to shipping. (Jack picking a fight and daring the other guys to hit him after he had Joseph thrown out kind of broke my heart a lot. OH JACK. ♥)
I'm not feeling David/Michelle, though. Maybe because David comes off as A Bit Thick a lot of the time, especially in scenes with Michelle. "What did you think that noise was?" "...I thought it was, y'know, the city." Oh, David. You're not very bright.
I adore how manipulative and heartless and cruel Silas and Rose can be, and how they then turn around and do something lovely. Silas's mistress is far too good for him. Rev. Samuels is surprisingly snarky under his cryptic riddles.I miss Eli already.
I think Jack is my favorite character so far. If Joseph gets more screentime (
bwaydaily told me that Michael Arden is in a recurring role, so Joseph will probably get more screentime) he might become my favorite character. He's so earnest, it's adorable. Thomasina is right up there with them, though, she's wonderful. Badass and capable and completely dedicated and wonderful. I'd like to see more of David's brothers. Also I'm really hoping we get to see Michelle be as manipulative as the rest of her family. Even if it's in the pursuit of her admirable goal. Let's just see her use people for her own ends, please.
Also, Michael Stahl-David looking surprisingly dorky! Oh, I love him. ♥ I may have to ship Michelle/Paul just for that, yo.
So yeah.
