RANDOM OPINIONS WHICH MAY OR MAY NOT BE UNPOPULAR, ABOUT RANDOM FANDOMS:

- The LOST writers are absolutely making up a lot of it as they go along. This isn't a bad thing. I'm reasonably sure that they have an idea of where it's going to end up, but they're constantly making up the bits in between, and that's okay and only to be expected. Except when the only thing they can think of is to throw another kink into the Love Rectangle Of Doom. Because that's not interesting writing, u gaiz.

- There is no such thing as Doctor Who canon. There's just the bits any given fan likes and is willing to accept, and it varies for each fan.

- Doyle was the best part of Andromeda Season 5. Which admittedly isn't saying much. But I am quite fond of her, is the point, despite the general suckitude of post-RHW Drom.

- Every time I watch The Black Donnellys, it only reaffirms my opinion that Kevin Donelly is the asexualest asexual character to ever asexually grace western television. And I do love him for it. ♥

- Ned The Pie Maker is absolutely a Stalker With A Crush, albeit an adorable and endearing one, and I can't see his and Chuck's relationship ending anywhere good for reasons that have nothing to do with the touching thing. They just want such different things out of it, you know? That doesn't stop me shipping them, mind.
Warning: above link goes to TV Tropes.

- Police Chief Karen Vick knows that the Psych boys lie like a lying thing, but she doesn't care as long as they solve cases.

- The post-PTSS Arturo was not the original Arturo we started Sliding with. Therefore, the original Arturo is still alive on that alternate world.

- Certain versions of Chess (key among them: the American tour version) somehow manage to convince me that Molokov is in fact Florence's father, defected to the East. Please don't ask me to explain this theory if you don't understand it, because I'm not sure I do either. If you do understand, let me know I'm not the only one who sees it, and maybe explain it to me.

- The most endearing thing about the main characters of RENT is that they're pretty much all A Bit Shit at their chosen art fields. "Your Eyes," particularly, is lovably awful.

- Jeff is the best of the [tos] gang, inasmuch as there is a best. There isn't a best, really, they're all unspeakably wonderful. What I mean is Jeff is my favorite. Because he'll stop a scene or a song to nitpick grammar. And that's awesome, yo.

- Mouse is a vastly inferior character to Mister, and I'm disappointed that the later Dresden Files books put so much more emphasis on the dog.

- Rachel had to die at the end of the war. It doesn't make me happy, but it's something I accept by the rule of Narrative Causality. There was no way for her to survive that would leave the ending feeling true. That said, the Bolivian Army Ending still sucks.

- The ending of Everworld, on the other hand, just sucks altogether.

- A Wizard Abroad is vastly underrated and features some of the most awesome characters to ever be introduced to the YW canon. Yeah, yeah, it's dense in places, but the characters and the mythology and the worldbuilding is amazing -- it's the first time in the series you really get a sense of how many wizards are running around Earth, leading perfectly normal lives except when they're needed.

- I've come to the conclusion that I'm not bothered by Penny's lack of character. Because it's not true. She has a character -- a fairly well-defined character, actually, at least as much as Captain Hammer -- she has a backstory, she has a clear personality. What bothers me is that she has no agency, and I'm positive the same ending could have been achieved without depriving her of being able to make choices that impacted the storyline.

- No Western animation currently on television even comes close to approaching the greatness that was the Animaniacs. Not even close.

The post-PTSS Arturo was not the original Arturo we started Sliding with. Therefore, the original Arturo is still alive on that alternate world.

More and more I see this theory from various people, and I think I'm starting to believe it. It's certainly an interesting thing to ponder.

Also, your opinion about Doctor Who is 100% true. Half of what should/is considered canon certain fans can't seem to handle. There will never be a way to satisfy EVERYONE, and I'm absolutely fine with this. It just makes it more interesting. :)

I don't know when I became so convinced it was true, or why, but I am. I think I just can't accept that Arturo came to such an...undignified end. And the fact that they never addressed the fallout from PTSS makes it very easy to fanwank it.

There will never be a way to satisfy EVERYONE, and I'm absolutely fine with this.

It's a neat and easy way to solve at least half the fandom wars! Your canon is not my canon, and that's okay. ♥

- Yes! I hate canon wars, and it makes so little sense in Doctor Who.

- Agree on Rachel. She made the war, being a soldier, everything she was; it was fitting that she died with it, much as I cried over it.

I understand why Applegate wanted to make them go out fighting, but…yeah, what. Though rereading, I have decided it was clearly Evil from the Dawn of Time. So the Doctor will back them up. And get Ax back, dammit.

- I need to find Young Wizards and start reading. (Once I finish Blood Ties, and Vampire Files, and the Stackhouse novels I have, and…)

- Agreed - Penny definitely had a personality, she just didn't get to do much with it. She was there to be a catalyst.

There is no Doctor Who cannon I will grant you this, but Doyle being the best thing about S5? Granted I tried to come up with a good argument against this and failed, but still.

On a random point because despite your delusional ideas about Doyle I still love ya. Do you remember me ever posting a fanfic about Beka taking Harper to the Doctors for the first time? I found it on my long neglected laptop and I've no idea if it actually got posted or not.

I'm so with you on your "they're making it up as they go along" Lost theory! ;) I still remember them in s1 saying something like, "There will never be time travel in Lost!" (which is probably news to all the characters who've been, you know, time traveling this year, lol! ;) )

But that's not a bad thing at all, as you pointed out. It would be far worse if they had a really rigid Plan That Must Not Be Deviated From that didn't allow for actor chemistry and just plain old sudden strikes of "Hey, wouldn't it be awesome if--!" moments. :D

*squishes!* ♥!

My fondness for Doyle is...odd. I'll grant you that. But given the wreck that is S5 I feel comfortable saying she was the best thing in a bad situation.

Look, I cling to my delusional love.

I don't remember that fic, but it sounds kind of amazing. Post it? And then if it turns out you actually did post it before, then it's a CLASSIC. *nods*

Oh, man, I know. Remember when they kept saying that everything would have a sciency explanation? I love our writers. They lie so much. <3

I remain firmly convinced that most of the Crowning Moments Of Awesome were a result of late-night/early-morning writers' meetings, massive amounts of caffeine, and people suddenly going, "DUDE. POLAR BEAR/PSYCHIC FLASHES/PENNY WIDMORE/OTHER THINGS THAT BEGIN WITH THE LETTER P." And I love them for it. ♥♥♥

There are people who don't think that?

I've no clue. I've next-to-no idea about what beliefs are generally held to be true by Psych fandom. :( I'm so out of touch.

Haha, yes! 'Your Eyes' was, as you put it, lovably awful. Oh and Angel's drumming did cause a dog to jump to its death. Just saying.

Oh and Angel's drumming did cause a dog to jump to its death.

Just sayin'.

Maureen's performance in the lot is probably the best example of this, but I've very rarely seen people try to claim that she's actually a brilliant performance artist. The fandom seems much more defensive of everyone else's artistic abilities. But I love how lulzy-bad they all are. ♥♥♥ It's wonderful!

LOST:
THANK YOU! That bugged me so much. Enough with the goshawful love rectangle of idiocy!

PD:
Hehe, I actually rewatched "Bzzz" the other day and Emerson shouts to Chuck, about Ned, "HE IS STALKING YOU!" I don't really see it as stalking though. I mean she does love him, and he just wants to protect. Not that it's healthy, how overprotective he is, but it's sweet. And I don't care how inevitably doomed Ned/Chuck is, I will ship til the day I die. Hey, priests can't have sex either and they get through the day! *holds tight to the Ned/Chuck love*

-Dr. Horrible:
I didn't like Penny either! She did have a character (albeit a Mary Sue-like one), but the lack of choices also bothered me. I don't know. Something about her irked me a little bit. Not much, but she's definitely not my favorite of the series (err, 45 minute spectacle!)

There is a reason none of them have any money.

Yeah I've never seen anyone defend Maureen's talent (or lack thereof), but I'm not really in RENT fandom.

I seem to remember the creators actually saying it, even. (Or at leas that she doesn't care if they're lying as long as they get results.)

I dunno, fandom can go do its thing. As long as I can watch and laugh and write goofy stories, I'll be happy.

Agreed majorly on the RENT thing. I think Mark might be the best at his field out of all of them, if you look at the little montage thing at the end. "Your Eyes" makes me cringe as someone who is musically inclined - the pacing is weird, and the end is very... I can't think of any word besides "bad".

The Animorphs thing... I agree with that, too. And after the war, what was she going to do? Become a model? ... Yeah. Though the last arc of Animorphs could have been done better, I feel.

... Dude. A Wizard Abroad is my second-favorite YW book, after A Wizard Alone. :( How can people forget about it? SOGGY BEER MAT. :|

Lost: Agreed.

Doctor Who: Agreed. Talk about making stuff up as you go.

Andromeda: Disagreed. It was in fact Harper's hair that was the best part of season 5. :P

Rent: Ha! Nice observation. You're right, they are. XD

Animorphs: I barely skimmed the last book. I just know I didn't like the ending. I'll read it again at some point. But Rachel dying was fitting. I don't mind that terribly. (More angst for Tobias. Or pity points, if you will. XD )

What bothers me is that she has no agency, and I'm positive the same ending could have been achieved without depriving her of being able to make choices that impacted the storyline.

What do you mean?

Animaniacs: I haven't seen that in soooo long! I should find some and watch it for good old times sake. I don't remember the animation at all.

I hate the Love Rectangle Of Dooooooom so much. You don't even know. *hates on it some more*

Re: Ned...he goes overboard. He means well but he goes overboard. A lot. And he's got some control issues. I love him, but it's true. I just feel like at some point in the unspecified future, Chuck's need for space and adventure and Ned's need for control and predictability would clash badly rather than balancing each other. I don't know, I'm not explaining what I mean very well. That said, I do adore them. A lot.

My very favorite Dr. Horrible character is Moist, so any bitching about lack of character development in other characters would be incredibly hypocritical of me. But Penny's very...not cardboard, exactly, because she does have a personality and motivations and so on of her own, but I feel like her place in the story could have been filled with an inanimate object without changing the plot noticeably? :/ That bothers me.

Tell you what I'll let you cling to your delusions if you let me cling to mine, I'm a Rose fan remember. Hows that? :D

As for the fic I'm sorry if I made it sound amazing you'll be disappointed, but it is a Maru fic, set not that long after Beka picked Harper up and dumped Bobby, and there aren't enough Maru fics right? I also have fixed a 101 minor errors and I'm working on a far extended ending so maybe no one i'll notice if I did post it before. Or maybe no one will read it to notice in the first place.

"Your Eyes" is so awful. OMG. "Your EYES, as they SAID their goodBYES, can't get them OUT of my MIND, and I FIND, I can't HIDE, from your EYES..." Oh, Roger. I'll go ahead and admit that it gives me a giggle when he says "It isn't much, but it took all year," because in my head what he means is "Actually I wrote it in five minutes, but if I tell you that it took me all year and it's a meaningful expression of our love for one another you can't say anything bad about it, right? Right?" So bad.

It's like...aside from the actual Bolivian Army Ending, which came out of nowhere, all the developments in the ending arc made sense and were logical and all that? But they somehow managed to trainwreck despite that. Maybe because a lot of other logical, sensible things to address just got dropped. I'm still pissed that the parents didn't make a noticeable appearance in the last book, after all the buildup with them in the closing arc. And slaughtering all the Auxiliary Animorphs felt very cheap, somehow.

I love Abroad. I haven't seen any bashing, which I'm thankful for, but I've seen a lot of people cite it as their least favorite or call it boring or whatever. Which I can kind of understand, as it's paced a lot slower than the other books (it's even lampshaded!), but it's such a great book. :( Nita turning Ronan into a soggy beer mat is one of the Top Best YW Moments Ever, no lie.

*high fives you on the Lost thing* I want moar Des/Penny and Jin/Sun! ♥

I dunno. I still love 'em. They're definitely very different, but I feel like Ned finds it refreshing to be around her. Like, have you ever wanted to do something that goes against your nature and so you don't really do it, but then that friend of yours from school that you have a class with takes you do it and you're really unsure at first, but then it's kind of fun as you start to loosen up, since you're with someone you trust (not to embarrass you - hee)? That's kind of how I see Chuck's involvement in Ned's life. As for Chuck being with Ned, I know she wants the adventurous lifestyle, but when it came down to Ned and her dad (with adventures), she chose Ned, so I think she's kind of figuring out her priorities. Plus, she said that she already likes the PI adventures they have.

I don't know why I'm defending (badly) a ship that you already like! :D That said, I hope what I wrote above makes SOME sense...

I understand and agree completely about Penny. She just seems to be THERE as a motive for Billy/Dr. Horrible.

Okay, I'll concede that Harper's hair is in the running for Best Part Of Season 5. XD It's like they were trying to make up for Gordon being the shortest member of the cast by giving him the tallest hair. *pets*

Re: Penny...throughout the storyline, she never makes an active choice. She doesn't control her own future at all. The closest she gets is sneaking offstage during the Everyone's A Hero speech, and even then...she doesn't confront Hammer, she doesn't make any effort to show that she doesn't agree with what's being said, she doesn't even actually leave the ceremony.

I get that for the sake of the narrative she had to die, and in the way that she did. But I feel like even giving her one moment in the earlier acts where she exercises agency could have fixed the dodgy subtext. Let her actively choose to date Hammer instead of just sort of falling into it and not knowing how to get out. Let her do something more active for her cause than collecting signatures on a petition -- or, hell, let the petition itself matter somehow.

I don't know. I just feel like she doesn't actually do anything. She has a personality, she has a backstory, she has motives...and she sits back and lets the plot happen around her instead of actually doing anything.

I'm not explaining myself very well.
