So far today I've called Artist Arena to switch my concert tickets to the Friday show, sent off resume/references/letter to three theaters with job openings (an ME position, an assistant ME position, and a light board op position), and submitted "The End Of The Road (Is The Beginning Of Your Life)" to [livejournal.com profile] fic_tossed for a review. It's kind of sad that the most recent Whofic I've written was in September '07.

And! Artist Arena just e-mailed me again to tell me that the deal's been upgraded and now they'll be refunding the full cost of the tickets, so I'll be going to see the Friday show free of charge. Which is kind of awesome, yo. I mean it's not awesome that they're this desperate to get people to switch to Friday, and I feel bad for the people who can't switch and who might wind up getting turned away from the door on Saturday, and HoB kind of sucks for overselling their show, but I'm going to see the Pogues for no cost. That's kind of awesome.

Also that one Harper vid I was talking about several posts a month or so ago is very nearly done.

All in all, a good day so far.

I've been thinking about submitting something to [livejournal.com profile] fic_tossed, but I can't decide what I want to throw at them. Possibly The Distance Between Yesterday and Tomorrow... I'd be tempted to try Follow the Leader (Over the Cliff), but as I wrote it over a year ago, it seems a little silly and possibly like I should throw up one more recent. I'm also a little nervous, but my Gwenfic got a good review from them, so...

And I have never read your Whofic. I need to fix that.

I'm still a little nervous about having submitted something from '07, but, hell, it's the most recent one I've got. Which means I'm a bit useless at helping you pick between recent fic / older fic you're curious about the reaction to. Um. I don't see anything saying you can't submit both?

I'm really curious about how they'll review it, honestly, but the [livejournal.com profile] cot_tossed reviews were pretty much all amazing. (In terms of review-quality, not in terms of "this fic was awesome.) And I'd like that level of critique leveled at my work.

And I have never read your Whofic. I need to fix that.

It's all old. And there's not very much of it. The End Of The Road (Is The Beginning Of Your Life), I'm Awake (And You're Breathing), Green Flying Saucers and Blue Time Machines, and Closet Idealists. And I think that's it. Except for In The Mood, which is actually a Torchwood fic.

Yay for free Pogues concert! Sure it sucks that some people can't switch, but well, you still get to go to a free concert.

I know, right? I theoretically feel bad for them, but free concert! Free awesome concert!

I'm very excited. XD

The official Pogues forum is discussing it. And all the people on there who couldn't switch (or who already had tix to the Friday concert and will be attending both) are mostly saying, "Well, they're saying that the presale tickets will be honored ahead of the general buyers, so, uh, sucks to be general buyers 'cause I got presale tickets." I love how nobody cares about the theoretical masses as long as they get to see the band. ♥

HAHA! That is awesome. Theoretically feeling bad for them. I'm sure you'd express sympathy if you met someone who couldn't get in on Saturday. But otherwise... not so much your problem.

Exactly! Until I actually meet somebody who's going to be SOL because of this, it's hard to actually feel bad for them. So it's very theoretical.

I do hope that everyone who can switch to Friday will, and that there aren't people who are just gonna be assholes about it and not switch even if they could.

I agree. I understand having prior commitments on Friday, or having already set up travel arrangements and not getting into Boston in time for the Friday show, or attending both shows, but refusing to switch just to be a jerk is...well, jerky.

That said, I think the 100% refund for people who switch to Friday will cut down on the number of people who hold on to their Saturday tickets just for the hell of it.

Yeah definitely. Though I think attending both shows.. well that's a bit jerky too, given the situation.

Yeah, but if you've already spent the cash...actually, given that Artist Arena is refunding the money for the Saturday show, that isn't a good excuse at all. :/
