...yeah. I'm a little torn on the fact of the strike, because on the one hand OMG my shows (Pushing Daisies! Dirty Sexy Money! DAMMIT THIS HAD BETTER NOT PUSH THE LOST OPENING BACK ANY FURTHER) and on the other hand I really want to support the writers and take a baseball bat to the studios until they come to their senses.

So what I want is FOR THE GORRAM STUDIOS TO COME TO THEIR SENSES FAST and concede to every single one of the writers' demands very very fast so that they can get back to work under much better conditions. Ys? Ys. We don't need more reality TV and news shows, thnx.

Oh God, yes. If the studios take long enough to deal with this that they need to resort to reality TV? I will kill something. Because God knows there's not enough of that crap already... *Rolls eyes*

Basically, right there with you.

I hope this is resolved REALLY REALLY quickly.

I KNOW.

Especially since it means The Daily Show and The Colbert Report are off the air starting... well, tonight. And won't be back until after it's over. The primetime shows have a few months' worth of scripts stocked up, and things had BETTER be sorted out by the time they run out. (Particularly to ensure that we get a Pushing Daisies Christmas episode, because my GOD, if they run out of scripts before then and this is still going on, I will seriously go light the ABC building on fire.

I live in hope that my fave shows have a decent number of scripts stockpiled to see them through the shows. Because I'm not sure I could stand it if they were forced into hiatus. *flail*

Dammit, studios!

I just want writers to be respected a bit more.

I'm having the same conflicted feelings. I'm totally scared for my shows right now and their fate, but I also feel like the writers are underappreciated. I mean, sure, directors, producers etc. do a lot of work, but without the writers there would be nothing to direct, nothing to produce...

Dear writers and studios,
Please get this show back on the road and FAST! :D

I live in terror of a big hiatus. Because I don't think my new shows -- PD and DSM specifically -- could survive it. I definitely don't want the writers to give in because they've got a damn good point, but...I don't want this to last very long.

So I really REALLY hope the studios get their act together fast.

Yeah, I'm with you. The writers definitely deserve everything they're asking for, and I support them striking to get it. But at the same time, I'm going into withdrawal just thinking of the possibility of a Colbert-less winter. I mean, he hasn't even gotten to the war on the war on christmas yet!

Hopefully the studios grow some brains and it's all solved very very fast. That could happen, right? Right?

Oh, how I wish I could believe that!

I'm usually extremely anti-striking but I reckon writers probably get treated like shit in the entertainment industry. But yeah, it's still pissing me off. It's ridiculous that they were making us wait until Febuary for more LOST anyway. :(

Their demands are srsly not ridiculous--I heard they even dropped demanding that they get paid for DVD sales and are just sticking to wanting to get paid for Internet sales--and WHY the damn studios aren't just giving in and giving them what they want makes no sense to me. :(

I wasn't meaning the writers. I actually support them, which has surprised me as I'm not a fan of the whole strinking thing usually. I just meant that we were having to wait until Febuary for new LOST, which was announced after the season three finale...as far as I know the no new episodes until Febuary thing didn't originally have anything to do with the strike?

No, yeah, sorry. Wasn't meaning to argue with you, was meaning to go off into another rant about why the studios are stupid and the writers are justified which was more of a "I agree with you and here's why" sort of thing, if that makes any sense at all. Bad wording. Ys.

The no new episodes until February thing, I think, just has to do with the shortened season and wanting to run new episodes all in a row instead of breaking them up like they did in the first season. But if the strike goes on long enough it could definitely push production back and lengthen the hiatus. Ys?

Not pleasant, in any case.

Heh, argue if you like! Though it might be difficult in this case, since we appear to agree.

I suppose if it means less breaks throughout the season then waiting for new LOST isn't so bad. But, dang it, I miss it. And it doesn't help that the season three boxset is taking so long to come out either. It only just got released in the UK a couple of days ago...I believe the US set won't be out until December?
Date: 2007-11-07 03:59 pm (UTC)

From: [identity profile] chicafrom3.livejournal.com
Yeah, we don't get the set for another month-plus. *is sad* Not that I could afford it right now, and not that I would buy it right now anyway because of the writers' strike, but still. It'd be nice to know it was there, right?

No I'm just messing :P I am totally with the WGA on this.

Perhaps this will see more British/foreign shows on US TV?

That would be nice, because then at least we wouldn't be stuck in a cycle of endless reruns, reality TV, and news shows.
