Doy being cowed into agreeing to be called Dewey by Ava was possibly the most heartbreaking moment in this entire show. Or I'm in a mood. One of those. It was oddly upsetting, though.
So, without Maya and Riley becoming friends, Riley never gets jolted out of her pretty dream world, Maya never acknowledges that she could have potential to be more than the tough kid, Lucas never settles into New York, Farkle never lets himself grow out of his awkward tics, Smackle never learns how to connect with other people, Auggie is never born, Ava commandeers Doy as her boyfriend, and Zay never moves to New York. Oh, and Cory is a different kind of terrible teacher, the kind obsessed with names and dates with no attention paid to any other factors. (He's kind of a terrible teacher anyway, though.)
It's all pretty over the top, but then, most for-want-of-a-nail canon AUs are kind of OTT. It's oddly endearing, though. And I kind of want Rilaya fic set in said AU. "Nobody calls me Peaches, why would you call me Peaches."
If you weren't delighted when Riley forced Maya into sitting with her and talking/Farkle and Smackle finally connected/Auggie was un-un-born, I'm not sure we can be friends.
