I'm worried about how much longer my computer will live. This is sad. Less sad: today's Girl Meets World!
HAMILTON REFERENCES. I refuse to believe this episode wasn't at least partly inspired by how incredibly devoted to Hamilton the New York theatre scene is. (The Hamilton cast recording came out today and Girl Meets World promptly releases an episode that includes discussion of the Hamilton/Burr duel. Coincidence? I THINK NOT.)
But poor Riley, man. It's not fun to feel like a freak, and it's not okay for someone to say those things to her. (And I hope this episode shuts up the people who claim that Rowan Blanchard is a weak actress because given the harder material here she kills it.)
All the kids got good moments this episode. Riley dealing with her angst (and then embracing her goofiness, bless her), Maya not having any idea what to do about it but doing her best to be there for her ("you don't know all of it, Maya" "yes I do of course I do!"), Lucas ready to rip through walls to protect Riley ("somebody doesn't love this?"), Farkle being the first to realize what's going on because of how much it resembles what happened to him with Billy (and tying Lucas down with towels, God bless him). My fave Zay got less of the serious moments, but he had some cute lines and moments and he's the first one to believe that Riley can handle it on his own, plus he's the newest member of the group; I'll let it slide.
I'm impressed that they never revealed who the bully was. Because in the long run it doesn't matter. What matters is what Riley went through and how she came out the other side.
But seriously the Hamilton/Burr references had to be an intentional nod to Hamilton, right?
