Don't be alone, Doctor.

Okay, so I want to talk about Doctor Who spoilers briefly?
So a while back (okay, a month back) Samuel Anderson tweeted that his character's sister would be joining the Who Crew. Whether this meant she was actually going to be part of the Team TARDIS (like Brian Williams in Dinosaurs On A Spaceship) or just appearing in the episode/joining them for an on-Earth adventure (like Tish Jones in The Lazarus Experiment...there's probably a better example. Brian in The Power Of Three?) was unclear, although I immediately hoped it was the former.
Yesterday (or at least that's when I saw it), the actress's appearance was linked to an episode in which "the Doctor is returning to the scene of an old adventure", filmed on a location last used for Planet Of Fire. So it does seem she'll be traveling off-world with them!
It's not a secret that I love a crowded TARDIS. Like, my two favorite eras of the show are the One/Barbara/Ian/Susan and Eleven/Amy/Rory(/River) teams, and in general if there are three or more people traveling in the TARDIS I'm predisposed to like it. (It's also something that delights me about the EDAswhich I am still working through in order; it's far more usual to have Eight + two companions than Eight + one companion.) It's a predisposition I suspect Moffat shares, hence why Rory joins the TARDIS shortly after Amy does and then stays (barring his brief absence due to death) throughout the rest of her run. It kind of reaches its ultimate (glorious) peak in Dinosaurs On A Spaceship, where Amy, Rory, Brian, Nefertiti, and Riddell all fill the role of companion.
I also suspect that Davies likes the idea of a crowded TARDIS but doesn't like having to write for one. He sets up really great TARDIS teams - Nine/Rose/Jack, Ten/Rose/Mickey, Ten/Donna/Martha - and then after an episode or two immediately goes back to the Doctor/single companion model. In Journey's End he packs the TARDIS full of companions for all of ten seconds before getting rid of all of them so Ten can be lonely some more. I don't really know where I'm going with this tangent which is one of the reasons it's under a cut.
So the point is, because I have these suspicions about Moffat, I was not surprised by the announcement that Danny would be a recurring character in S8. Thrilled, but not surprised. Because I like a crowded TARDIS, and I'm pretty sure Moffat does too.
And it seems that Ellis George (who doesn't seem to have an IMDB page, unless my Google skills just suck) will be joining team TARDIS for at least an episode, which gives us another tri-companion team -- with the possibility of her coming back for future adventures, since she has a direct link to the existing companion team (unlike, say, Nefertiti).
And I am absurdly excited about the possibility.
(Sorry for the rambling pointlessness of this post, I just wanted to talk about my DW feelings for a bit.) (Also I'm sorry for all the parentheses in this post, wtf.)
