We had a decided shortage of trick-or-treaters this year. There's still like half the bag of candy left. I ate a bunch of it while watching Elementary, because I'm totally a mature and responsible grownup.
Man, that opening with Joan cold-reading the people in lockup for Sherlock was so cute. "Can you do me next?"
And Gregson's wife is a complete badass. (Although will somebody tell me when they retconned Gregson's first name to be Tommy? Because I swear in the first season it was Tobias.)
"It goes without saying Watson and I will devote our full attention to this matter."
♥♥♥
Joan attempting to chew out Sherlock for solving her case, while he's arguing that it doesn't matter who solves it, was an interesting scene. She's really committed to her new career and him solving her cases kind of suggests he doesn't trust her to do it herself. In general, this episode had a lot of tension between Joan and Watson -- a kind that we don't usually see with them.
I am bizarrely amused that inaccurate Google Maps provided a major development in the case.
"If you need someone to talk to ... let me know and I'll make Watson available to you."
And then the ending, with Sherlock awkwardly trying to tell Gregson that there's still hope for his marriage. Sherlock is so bad at having friends, but he so clearly values them deeply.
The scene with Gregson and his wife discussing their separation (and the dog, who doesn't like strange men) made me tear up, and then they followed it with Watson letting herself explore Sherlock's cold cases. FFS, show, are you trying to kill me?
Next week,more Mycroft!
