It had some high points: "Symphony of Illusion", with its twist on the usual framing device; Kevin, up until the breakdown; most everything to do with the birth of Marvin "Wait For It" Erickson.
But on the whole, it felt like a rehash of plot points and themes that the show's already beaten into the ground, the one-step-forward-two-steps-back with Robin/Barney (and the endless dredging up of Ted/Robin) was tedious, aside from Kevin most of the love interests weren't very interesting or engaging (ugh, I thought we were done with Victoria a while ago), people were assholes for no apparent reason, and there was just way too much cringe comedy for my tastes.
Every show's got to have some bad times, I guess.
