My thoughts on this week's episode are not long but are heartfelt.
Overall it was a pretty bland but inoffensive adventure. Not one of my favorites but I didn't hate it; Ben Browder was fun and there were some good lines.
But mostly I kept getting distracted by production elements, especially the lighting. Oh my God the lighting. The lighting was spectacular. Correct me if I'm wrong but I feel like that was the best use of shadow Nu!Who has had. (42 also had spectacular lighting but it was more in its use of color and texture than in its use of texture.)
Ugh, Stephan Pehrsson, hire me and I will haul equipment across sets for you if it lets me see how you work this magic, because you have beautiful lighting.
(Especially in the "Is he worth it?" "I don't know, but you are." scene. If you did not make note of the lighting in that scene, go back and rewatch it now, I demand it. That was spectacular.)
