Random musing about LOST of the day:
Okay, so. We're all in agreement that when Hurley sees dead people, they're for real, right? He is really seeing dead people and they are really communicating with him.
So my pondering is:
Are they communicating to him from a place post-death pre-flashsideways? So, like, you die, and then you finish up your earthly business by chilling with Hugo and passing on messages, and then you move into the altverse where you forget everything about your earthly life until you remember and move on toheaven oblivion wherever they went after the church doors opened.
Or, are they communicating with him post-flashsideways somehow?
I mean, it would seem fairly obvious that it's the first option, but. When Charlie goes to see Hurley in the psychiatric hospital, he looks an awful lot like his flashsideways self. That is to say, wannabe-glam rockstar, not the scruffier look he sported on the Island.
The simplest explanation for that is that Dominic Monaghan ditched the scruff after Charlie died and when they brought him back for the hospital scene it was easier just to do the rockstar look. But Doylist explanations do not satisfy me!
Give me a Watsonian explanation, LJ!

IKR? I'm so excited. :D :D :D
I always figured that Charlie was pre-sideways...like the island decided when and if you went to the sideways land...Charlie went when he finished with Hurley....and basically started his life all over again.
It really is what makes the most sense! It's just...costuming decisions throwing me off. :/
