Because Valentine's Day is exclusive, and Singles Awareness Day is depressing, let's celebrate Beka day, eh? Eh? We can all get behind our appreciation of the hardcore, badass, gorgeous Captain Beka Valentine.

Ah, the early days of questionable hair and clothing choices. Beka's used to being the one and only Boss around, and she doesn't appreciate being reduced to the second in command. She loves her Maru, she loves her crew, and she is fiercely protective of both.

When her 'uncle' Sid tortures her for information, it ends with Beka hooked on one of the coolest nightmare-fuel fantasy drugs ever -- flash. (Look, it's applied through the eyes. Maybe I just have issues with eyes, but that sure seems like nightmare fuel to me.) Beka is stronger and has a better support system than her dad, though, and with the help of the people who love her she overcomes the addiction.

Beka is ridiculously pretty in this episode. There's not really any other good reason to devote a section of this picspam entirely to this episode, but whatever, she is. I know a lot of people aren't fans of the braid, but I think it suits her. Also, the one-sleeved dress is gorgeous.

Season three is cruel to everyone, but Beka comes out of it as strong (and gorgeous) as ever. She's learned how to be a good first officer but still maintains her distinctive kickass Valentine style. Also, how much do I wish the series had been built around the Rhadeverse? So much.

Something about Beka in the Light AU scares me. I think it's the hair. It's a little...much. Nevertheless AU!rebel!Beka is noble, idealistic, scary, tough, and as invested in the Maru as ever. I'm really interested in the backstory of how she got to this point. And what she and Rommie and the Andromeda did afterwards.

Seefra-era Beka is a little colder, a little more distant, than ever before. She does however make some very good hair choices and get in some excellent snark. Nietzschean!Beka there in the corner is from a hallucination (? I don't really understand that epiosde) of Dylan's and is a scaryawesome portmanteau of Beka and Tyr.
In conclusion...there are no better slipstream pilots.
