Watched Lola Rennt today. Was very, very good. Seriously: cinematographically it's gorgeous; the set design is perfect, costuming deserves awards, and I'm in love with the lighting designer. They do a really good job of emphasizing the surreality, and Lola stands out from her surroundings always, both because her surroundings are in neutral tones and she's all bright colors, and because of the constant use of backlighting to separate her out.
Also, at the end of scenario two? There's this one gorgeous shot, where it's all done from above, and Manni is spread-eagled on the pavement, this splash of dull blue surrounded by black, and then one bright spot of color in Lola's hair. It's ridiculously fantastic.
Oh, yeah, the script. It's a great script, too. It's surreal and it's quantum and it's internally consistent and it makes you think. ♥ Little bit in love with Lola. Not going to lie.
Next up: Doctor Who: The Daleks. Cheers!
Tomorrow, my mom leaves for Maine for a week. :( Yeah. I wish I was going with her. I loathe this region.
