So I love Miles. A lot. A lot a lot. You don't even know, man. So much love for him.

That statement was not based on this episode, but it's totes reinforced by it.

Notes!

- Reinforcement of LOST's general policy of "There are no Good Fathers (in flashbacks anyway)"!

- Young punk!Miles is ridiculously adorable. He should hang out with young goth!Claire. (I know the timelines don't exactly work, but this is a show with canon time travel now!) Any other Lostaways have embarrassing youthful tangles with the subculture?

- We get an explanation for how Miles' power works (sort of, anyway) and more of the comedy stylings of Hugo Reyes and Miles Straume. Yessss. The LOST gods love me.

- But is it just me or does the explanation for Miles' power not jive with what we've seen before? Specifically in his first flashback way back in season 4. When he was basically asking the kid's ghost to tell him where the drugs and cash were. That was like a conversation, wasn't it? Maybe I'm misremembering.

- Confirmation of fan theory ahoy!: Pierre Chang is Miles' dad!

- Naomi's cute. I miss her.

- "Second day we were here I was in line at the cafeteria and my mother got in line behind me. That was my first clue." Heee.

- "I have a three-month old son, so no, I haven't told him." "Three months old! Congratulations! What's his name?" "Miles." "Miles! Small world! Isn't that your name, too, Miles?"

- Hurley means well, but oh, honey, don't try to reconcile estranged son and oblivious father, that never ends well.

- NUMBERS

- I would take a moment to point out the cinematography in this episode, 'cause so much of it is lovely. Especially the scene in the van when Miles is being pressured to not go to the Island. Gorgeous lighting.

- Also, we have a further lead on Ilana's cryptic "Do you know what lies in the shadow of the statue?" from last week. She apparently belongs to a group of Major Players, which is good to know, she's not just acting on her own. What these Major Players want, other than to undermine Widmore, is yet to be determined.

- "Maybe he'll let you hold little you. Change your own diapers." Blinovitch Limitation Effect, Hurley. Blinovitch Limitation Effect.

- Hurely trying to write Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back before George Lucas!! ♥♥♥ I less than three you, Hurley. "That has got to be the stupidest thing I've ever heard." "Oh yeah? Well, at least I'm not scared to talk to my own dad."

- Sawyer calling Kate out on being Stupid made me happy.

- "If you needed your son to know that you loved him, you should've told him when he was still alive." Awwww, Miles. *loves you. a lot*

- Hurley's desire for everyone to talk things out and come to their peace is adorable and I love him for it.

- Remember how I said punk!Miles was adorable? Baby!Miles gives him a run for his money as the Cutest Thing Every OMG.

- DAAAAN! WELCOME BACK, DAN!

Ugh, a 'special' next week? So we have to wait two weeks for a real episode? WHY SO MEAN, ABC?

It's pushed back for sweeps, I think?

THAT ASIDE

I totally missed the last minute of the episode, because as soon as I heard Dan, I started giggling and squealing.

... and I didn't hear any of it. XD

You didn't miss much, I promise; Dan comes out of the sub and Miles boggles and goes "DAN??" like the rest of the audience and Dan goes "HI MILES :D" and it cuts to the LOST title card. HI DAN :D :D :D

SWEEPS ARE STUPID. I don't want to break the new-LOST run. :(
