I feel weird about how little I post to LiveJournal these days, but I also feel like I don't have a whole lot to say?

Anyway, this is a TV post.

I don't know if I've ever mentioned this before, but I installed this app called iShows on my iPod touch and it's made keeping up with TV shows so much easier because it lets me know when things are airing and also keep track of any episodes I've missed. So this is your unpaid advertisement of the post.

Anyway, on Netflix I have recently binge-watched three Netflix Originals, Sense8, Marvel's Daredevil, and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Of the three, Sense8 was far and away my favorite. It took me like three episodes to get everyone's names straight and another before I was definitely in love, but given that I initially started out as "meh, it's got Freema Agyeman in it, I'll watch for her" I feel like that's pretty good. I can't even pick out a favorite character or three because it hurts to leave anyone out. (I can't even pick out a favorite SHIP, Nomi/Amanita, Lito/Hernando, and Wolfgang/Kala are all so great.) Daredevil was fun and had some really great moments but ultimately failed to grab me entirely; that said I'll probably still check out the second season when it's released. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt was . . . alternately fun and cringeworthy, but that's kind of what I expected going in. I don't know if I'll bother with season two, but then, I've got time to decide that, don't I.

Also on Netflix I went back and finally finished the US remake of Being Human. (For the record, I initially watched it first-run on the Syfy channel, then lost interest and stopped; then some time later I binge-watched it on Netflix but either they didn't have the last season yet or it hadn't aired yet, I forget. So this made my third go at the series.) And I enjoyed it more in the end than I did in the beginning! It got a little ridiculous there (mm, werewolf witch ghost Sally) but it was pretty consistently fun. And everybody got a happy if bittersweet ending! And by the end it had almost nothing in common with the original UK show, which made it easier to enjoy.

I think next up on Netflix I'm going to a) rewatch Sense8 and b) watch the last two seasons of White Collar, which I never finished.

In actual-TV news, I've started watching two shows on the Syfy channel, Killjoys and Dark Matter, both of which are set on spaceships, so, you know, that earns them points right there. I'm enjoying both of them so far, though it's still early. Right now Killjoys has a slight edge in how much I like it, because Dutch is fab and Johnny's dynamic with Lucy is so great it kills me, but if Dark Matter gives me more of Five and Six bonding awkwardly it may end up overtaking its competition. (And, I mean, "six strangers and an android" on a spaceship with no idea of what they're doing is pretty much tailor-made to my interests, so that helps, too.)

I watched all of the first season of Younger because Sutton Foster but I'm not actually sure I enjoyed it. I got invested by the end in Liza and Josh's relationship drama but also I think they both kind of suck and aren't really suited, and there was a lot of cringe humor, which isn't my thing. I don't know. I have the better part of a year to decide if I want to bother with the second season.

I've started making an actual attempt to keep up-to-date with Gravity Falls and Star Wars Rebels, which makes a change from the way I usually consume any Disney Channel-related media (excepting Girl Meets World, which is special). Disney Channel is just really bad at any kind of consistent airing schedule for its shows, so I usually just catch reruns whenever I happen to see them, but I've gotten invested in the Pines twins and the Lothal rebels, so. Actually making the effort to track their airing schedules. (Again, iShows helps with that. I am not paid for this advertisement because who would pay me for anything to post on the ghostown that is LJ.)

I'm still keeping up with My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, but I'm not enjoying it as much now as in the earlier seasons. They spend a lot of time hitting the same story beats over and over and it gets tiring. That said, the 100th episode, Slice Of Life, was right up my alley. Doctor Whooves and Muffins were frigging adorable, and I could watch a whole series about Octavia and DJ Pon-3 rocking out together.

And, of course, I'm keeping up with Girl Meets World, since GMW episode reviews are 90% of what I post these days.

In terms of stuff on hiatus, most of that hasn't changed. Waiting for Doctor Who to come off hiatus comprises a large part of my life. I am super excited about some of the spoilers coming out, especially the return of Rigsy, who I loved in his first appearance. Once Upon A Time has gotten really frustrating in many ways but the big plot twist at the end of last season could turn out really interesting, and anyway I'm in it for the long haul. I literally do not understand the writers' (or producers? I don't know who makes these calls) decisions to make some actors regulars and others not, though. (Let's make Michael Socha a regular . . . give him a total of ten minutes' screen time in the season in which we do nothing interesting with his character or address the big question mark that is Will/Ana . . . and then scale him back down to recurring guest star. ???) Elementary will keep me in the audience as long as Sherlock and Joan are snarky with each other, and I'm hopeful if not optimistic that Sleepy Hollow can recover from the missteps of season two. Galavant got picked up for another season! I wasn't really expecting it to because business, but I'm so excited because that was the worst cliffhanger ever. And did I ever mention that I watched the first season of The Librarians? Because I did, and I enjoyed it, and I'm looking forward to another season. And there's only a couple months left until Continuum's final season! I'm sad it's almost over but pleased they're getting to wrap everything up the way they want to.

Stuff coming up in the months-or-so to come: THE MUPPETS IS COMING TO ABC THIS FALL AND I AM INCREDIBLY EXCITED. I'm going to be giving a few DC Comics shows a shot, specifically Supergirl (saw the leaked pilot, thought it was cute), Lucifer (although basically everything that's been released about it has me side-eying whoever decided this was how to adapt the Lucifer comics, so I may not last long with it), and DC's Legends Of Tomorrow (Arthur Darvill and time travel is like catnip). Starz is producing both an Ash Vs. Evil Dead series and an adaptation of American Gods, so you know I'm there for both of those.

AND THE X-FILES IS COMING BACK AND I CAN'T NOT MENTION THAT HERE EVEN THOUGH THERE'S STILL LIKE AN ETERNITY UNTIL WE'LL GET TO SEE IT.

This was a really long post and I hope that makes up a little for my erratic presence.
