Apparently the Matthews don't lock their front door. I assume they live in a building with a doorman and other security, but that still seems an unwise decision to make in New York City. (Although they also apparently leave Riley's large bay window unlocked so Maya and Farkle can get in at their discretion, which is an even less wise decision.)
I did get a cruel little chuckle out of Harley saying he knows how Farkle feels, and then admitting he's not proud of why he knows how Farkle feels. Yes, dude. You made kids feel that way. Some of those kids probably still feel that way. "Kids can be very cruel. I know this from personal experience." "You were picked on as a kid?" "No, I was the other one."
"Now I hold him in the highest esteem. ... Hey, Johnny Baboon!"
I CAN'T BELIEVE CORY GOT HIM THE JOB. I mean of course I believe it, because that's the kind of person Cory is, and it neatly explains Harley just happening to work at the same school as Cory, but YEAH. I WOULDN'T DO THAT IN CORY'S PLACE. And that's why Cory's a better person than me.
"You guys have one day to figure this out and fix Farkle, else you come and see an adult."
RESPONSIBLE PARENTING.
I love that Lucas doesn't want to resort to violence even in defense of his friend...
"I mean, he wants to take over the world, but I'd kind of like to see what he does with it."
...but when someone actively insults Farkle to his face, he instinctively lashes out in defense.
I AM JUST REALLY WARMING UP TO LUCAS? His protective streak is endearing. I'm getting the feeling that if he and Riley dated and then broke up they would still be friends and he would be nice to all her subsequent boyfriends.
There are a lot more capslock in this review than I usually go to in a Girl Meets World review, huh. Sorry about that. I'm in a capslocky mood tonight.
And then Harley calls Billy out on his behavior in the way only another bully can. "Now here I am. With a mop." (I like to imagine all of my middle- and high-school bullies are behind a mop now. Sadly they are probably not, and also I am unemployed, and apparently in addition to being in a capslocky mood I am also in a sharing my personal crises mood. Sorry again.)
"You be exactly who you are, Ava. You wear it proudly."
"Was that for my benefit, Mom?"
"How ya doing?"
Riley's need to fix everything is one of my favorite things about her. And that she's really good at getting people to go along with her, despite the fact that she's insecure about the way people perceive her. She gets that from her parents.
I would like Billy to be recurring, tbh. It was a nice redemption for him, because it included a solid reason for why he acted the way he did, an acknowledgement that his behavior was wrong, and a stated intention to work on being better and acknowledging his own failings and insecurities.
"Yeah. People change."
