Because I know Dutch uses triple vowels sometimes. Although not usually (ever?) the same vowel, so maybe that's not actually applicable. I think Portuguese does the same thing sometimes, although again not usually the same vowel.
Um. I think my point was: different languages have different rules, so I can totally accept that Wookiee language allows for three 'y's in a row.
