SO I'M BACK FROM DURHAM.

The show was amazing, as I knew it would be. ;)

I teared up during "Breathe" which I was not expecting. Most of Act 2, sure, I was expecting to cry a little. But "Breathe"? Still, as soon as Genny got to "Hey, guys, it's me, the biggest disappointment you know" I got all misty-eyed and choked up. Dammit, I love this show so much. Why are you no longer on Broadway, show?

Ana was a little too over-the-top as Carla for me. I realize Carla is an OTT kind of character, but Ana played it even beyond that and it just didn't work for me.

Joseph Morales, on the other hand, was perfection omg.

Reactions of my family, whose only prior exposure to In The Heights has been me rambling on about how much I love it: My mom's favorite character was Abuela Claudia, my little brother liked Sonny best, my dad claimed his favorite was the girl in the ensemble in a tube top and miniskirt because that is the kind of person my dad is. "Your father said 'Usnavi - that's what we'll name the baby"/"It really said 'US Navy'" was my brother's favorite moment of the whole show. There was a brief argument during intermission about whether Nina's school situation was realistic and whether it would have made more sense for her to go to an East Coast school. Overall, everyone enjoyed the night.

And now I am still all bouncy and full of happy feelings. ♥♥♥
