once the boho boys are gone, the power mysteriously comes on...

It's over. :( :( How come I'm always sad when a show ends and I have time to sleep and eat and do homework and mundane stuff like that again?

ANYWAY. It was probably the least-cursed show I have ever worked on. I mean OMG nobody got severely injured (Steve cut his hand up a little bit but not even that much) and there were no huge mistakes during any of the shows and it was seriously a ninja-bunny strike. ALSO OMG, the woman who played Benjamin in the original tour of The Yellow Boat happened to be at Regis on business...she runs an Internet company or something with her husband now...anyway, she saw our posters advertising the show and came down to talk to Steve and Wendy and then she and her husband attended today's show, watched it, and led a post-show discussion with our audience. *flail* HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN? That's like, serendipity or something.

I stole one of the No Dolls and got everybody in the cast and crew to sign it. Usually I get everybody to sign a program for me but it felt right to use the doll instead. It's so adorable, though; Meaghan C. made sure to draw an arrow to the doll's face with the note "I DREW THIS!" And the cast gave me a flower and a really sweet card and we all hugged a lot and I maybe cried a little bit. I can't believe this is my last stage management experience as a Regis student. :(

I have, however, been formally offered a paid position as stage manager for Pippin this spring. Of course, in order to take this job I will need a place to live and an additional steady job somewhere else. *flail* Does anybody live in Boston who needs a roommate? *hopeful*

Meme!

How it works: Just comment on this post saying you'd like to play. Then I will choose seven interests from your profile, and you will explain what they mean and why you are interested in them. Post these instructions along with your answers in your own LiveJournal so that others can play along, too.

[livejournal.com profile] moregeil asked about...

bad movies: I love bad movies. Particularly bad movies with Bruce Campbell, but just in general, movies with horrible writing, worse acting, cringe-worthy effects...I just have the time of my life. Particularly if they seem aware of the fact that they know that they're bad.

crack pairings: Fandom pairings that make No Canonical Sense. Covers crossover pairings (Wade Welles/Mickey Smith, Tess Harding/Martha Jones, Carlos Ramirez/Shannon Rutherford) and single-fandom pairings that just have nothing to back them up (Michael Dawson/Shannon Rutherford, Doyle/Ryan, Barbara Wright/Romana, Kit Rodriguez/Dairine Callahan). I love them.

surviving trichotillomania: Trichotillomania is the formal name of a form of obsessive-compulsive disorder that involves compulsive hair-pulling. The major external sign of my whole emotional/mental collapse during high school; by the time I left I was pretty much bald and had given up wearing wigs because I just pulled the wig hair as well. Now I'm doing much better, have ridiculously long hair that people keep asking me to let down so they can see it properly, and am still fighting the symptoms but having a better success rate. So, yeah. Surviving.

chess: In this case I mean the musical Chess, written by Tim Rice and the guys from ABBA. It's my very favorite musical ever, because the characters all so fucked up and the music is so completely gorgeous and it has lines like "their mother cried/for no one really likes their offspring fighting to the death" and "he lost it a woman and a half ago" and "right now we're Italian/we used to be German/the borders keep shifting around" and "I tried to be that cynical but blew it/I only changed your life/You left your home, your wife/I'm not surprised I slipped your mind" and it is just UTTERLY FANTASTIC. Dude, chess, espionage, blackmail, love triangles, adultery, media whoring...what more do you need out of a musical?

friendly hostility: A terrific webcomic which tracks the adventures of Fox and Collin, a just-out-of-college gay couple, along with Fox's insane family, Collin's former-slave-turned-assistant Bootsie, coworkers of both, and the Demon who sometimes lives with them.

nonsexual life partner: Someone who I plan to spend the rest of my life with in a completely platonic nonsexual way. Yeah, that's my girl Niki. We are very much married only without the sex because she's straight and I'm asexual and as we are two girls that would not work out well for us. So she has The Boy for the sex thing and I am very happy without it and we love each other. Does that make sense? That was some really awkward syntax there.

snark: Derisive, mocking commentary. Usually bitterly snide. Usually makes me laugh very much, even if I like what is being mocked.

And in other news, Rent Remixed is crack. *flail* I mean, no, obviously I am not making a judgment on the show based on listening to one audio recording, and will not comment as to whether I like it or not just yet. But it is CRACK. I mean, "Out Tonight" as a burlesque number? "What You Own" as a ballad? *flails more* It's so bizarre.

And I am considering buying this, because my EHD, as much as I love it, is rapidly starting to run out of space. :(

Oh God, for your paragraph explaining Chess, you just picked out almost all of my favorite lines. And you are so awesome for that. I think the only ones you missed are "I see my present partner in the imperfect tense" and "Listen you Plutocratic throwback/You and your cronies want to go back/Home to your dachas, not the saltmines?/We'd better talk". *Shifty* Aaaaanyway. Putting the Chess geek away for now.

And yeah, I'm shunning Rent Remixed. I fear it. Lots.

You are WISE, for my curiosity got the best of me so I traded for an audio and listened to it last night and *flail*. It's crack. And British!Mark scares me a little

...um. If I quoted all the lines I love in Chess I would quote the entire script! Well. All three scripts. Even the Australian one. Although, hee, I love the "Listen you Plutocratic throwback/You and your cronies want to go back/Home to your dachas, not the saltmines?/We'd better talk"? Let's be honest. That was what first made me fall hopelessly in love with Florence because OMG that is such an awesome line. :D

It's on my computer, still in a zipped file. But I don't think I'm likely to listen to it. Just stare at it in fear from time to time. Oh God, British!Mark. WHY? His actor just... totally does not get the character.

Hee. Well, yes. Chess has that effect, though many of the lines I love for COMPLETELY different reasons (mainly, they make me laugh). And yes, I am right there with you on the love for that line. It gives me chills when it's done right. Oh, I love my cracked-out show.

He's so not!Mark it's not even funny, and I just... WHY? Why would they do that to poor Mark?

YAY

I could do dorm-hopping. Theoretically. Um. Hmm.

I've been poking at Craigslist Boston and have found some encouraging apartment options but no luck on finding a job, and I definitely need a job before I can rent an apartment. Because, hey, rent. *dies*
