Icon meme!
Grabbed from
kawaiispinel and
allfireburns.
1. Reply to this post with 'Icons!', and I will pick five of your icons.
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will - allegedly - create a never-ending cycle of icon glee.
Keywords: cookies!
by
nikiness
Once upon a time there was a
metaquotes post that involved the phrase "We're having hot lesbian sex. And by lesbian sex we mean tea. But it's still hot." This amused a great many people and inspired a great many icons. Teh Niki and I were discussing it, and we were both amused by the phrase, and one or the other of us said, "It's totally about us! Except neither of us drinks tea!" So at some point in this conversation I suggested the substitution of cookies, and she made the icon, and lo, you have our relationship in a nutshell.
Also, the cookies are chocolate chip, if there was any doubt.
Keywords: The X-Files - chicafrom3
by
fandomfrom3; don't take, plz!
There's another story behind this one, and again it's weirdly convoluted. My first solid introduction to online fandom was the official X-Files message board, way back in the day when I was very young. I needed a screenname, thought about it for a while, and finally impulsively decided to name myself after Kristen Kilar, the vampire wannabe Mulder hooks up with in the second-season episode "3". Rather than actually try to register a variant of "KristenKilar" or the like, I called myself chicafrom3. The name stuck, and still does, as you've noticed. This icon's really nothing more or less than a nod to the origins of my screenname -- Mulder and his vampire love interest.
Keywords: Broadway - [tos] - secondary
by
slur_a_plea
One of my favorite musical numbers from [title of show] is -- okay, it's all of them. I fangirl this show ridiculously. But the point is I adore the song "Secondary Characters", which is a duet between Heidi and Susan about their becoming friends, and about their roles in the show. It is by turns very sweet ("I want to apologize for any weirdness" "Me, too, it can be really scary being the new kid") and very funny ("The secondary characters are singing a song while the stars are snacking offstage; it was their idea to bring us along and now we're hijacking this page of the script"). Also, it's hard to tell from a 100x100 square, but in that picture Susan's pretending to smoke an invisible cigarette, which is adorable and very [tos]some.
Keywords: The Black Donnellys - sarcasm
by
xxlov3ly
Kevin Donnelly is ridiculously quotable, yo. This is a quote from one of my favorite of his moments; in the Firecracker with Tommy, and he asks a stupid question, and Tommy gives him an angry sarcastic answer, and Kevin just helplessly asks what he did to deserve all this sarcasm. It's very hard to convey how cute he is in still images, much less text only, but this quote comes very close. It also comes in handy when the world refuses to cut me some slack.
Keywords: Broadway - Drowsy Chaperone - showoff
by
fandomfrom3
"Show Off" is an iconic moment from The Drowsy Chaperone! It's a great song. Very funny. I love the line "I don't want to CHANGE KEYS no more!" in part because she...changes keys while doing it (much like how she prefaces her encore with "I don't wanna ENCORE NO MORE!"), and partly because this may be one of the reasons I am not a singer. But mostly it's just a really fun moment, and I love it.
Keywords: Doctor Who - Barbara
by
calapine
I love Barbara Wright. I love her to ridiculous degrees. She's awesomeness personified. Honestly the first few years of Doctor Who are really The Barbara Wright Show with supporting characters the Love Interest, the Mentor, and the Student. She's regularly the one to save the day with her courage, intelligence, history skillz, and ability to do what needs to be done. Sometimes I wonder how the show managed to survive losing Barbara and Ian. I never really come to a solid conclusion.
Keywords: Doctor Who - Mickey
by
random_alley
Generally, if asked for a list of my favorite DW companions, Babs tops it (obviously), and Mickey and Martha compete with each other for the second-place spot. Barbara is who I would like to think I'd be, were I to become the Doctor's companion; Mickey is who I probably would be. And I do so love him. I think I originally chose this icon just because I love the cinematography of it -- it's really gorgeously shot, that scene -- but it works really well for a general sadface icon.
Keywords: Dirty Sexy Money - nonsexual
by
fandomfrom3
Juliet and Jeremy Darling were my very favorite characters from Dirty Sexy Money, and part of the reason for that is that I love their dynamic with each other. When Juliet confessed to being a virgin, I almost immediately jumped to the idea of her being asexual, and rewatching earlier episodes just reaffirmed that theory; it also solidified the idea that she sees Jeremy as being more important than just her brother, or even just her twin brother. So in my head they are and always will be nonsexual life partners, even though Jeremy is a slut. ...I never watched S2, so my reading of Juliet and their relationship may have been disproven somewhere in there.
Keywords: Torchwood - Jack/Tosh
by
fandomfrom3
The text comes from "What Hurts The Most" originally by Mark Wills, covered by a bunch of other people, most notably the Rascal Flatts who turned it into a hit. The full line is "What hurts the most was being so close and having so much to say and watching you walk away..." I ship Jack/Tosh -- a lot -- and it's a song that totally fits with my view of their (hypothetical) relationship: it's not that it's ended or that it's never been that really hurts, it's the things they can't say to each other. Not to mention how well it fits this scene in particular; Tosh has been, briefly, in love and self-confident and aware of her own awesome, and now she's being asked to forget it and go back to being unable to say the things she wants to say.
Also, I really, really love the cinematography of this scene. The lighting, the blocking, the way way the shots are framed, all of it. It's a beautiful scene.
Keywords: Doctor Who - Nine/Mickey/Rose
by
sarah531
Honestly? ...I had at least one DW icon for every other era of the show, I needed a Ninth Doctor icon, and I like this shot a lot. It's a moment of camaraderie between three people who often have a lot of tension. Also, people should write Nine/Mickey/Rose. I would totally read that. Or even more gen with the three of them. THEY FIGHT CRIME?
