Topher freaking out over his tech being used as weaponry and the guilt and the freaking out because his tech is supposed to be shiny fun toys...And then "can you fix it?" "in my sleep" D:

Tony/Priya continue to be adorable. As is Victor!Topher trying to convince Priya to let him reimplant Tony with bonus ninja skills and awesome soldier talents and also cooking abilities in case they get married someday, and the way Priya considers it for a moment, and omg love Enver and Dichen they are awesome.

You know who else is awesome? Amy Acker. So good at playing someone so completely different from Whiskey/Claire.

...I like Mellie. I prefer Paul with Mellie to Paul with Echo, which isn't saying a whole lot because Paul, as a whole, equals boring. But I like Mellie. Quite a bit. "When we were together, you made me feel like a real person." :(

And Adelle! ADELLE I LOVE YOU AND I WANT TO BE YOU WHEN I GROW UP. Without, you know, the whole running-a-high-tech-brothel thing. BUT ASIDE FROM THAT, BECAUSE YOU ARE AWESOME AND BADASS.

I'M REALLY NOT OKAY WITH EVIL!BOYD. I mean I get it. It's a really good twist, it's a good narrative choice, well done, Joss, no one saw that coming and it was a good decision. But I love Boyd and having be the Big Bad is hurting me because now I don't know who to side with.

OKAY. I really really should never have gotten invested in these characters to the point where seeing them dead/broken/whatev hurts. It's a Joss Whedon show. I have experience with Joss Whedon show. I never for a minute expected him to let the shiny survive. Joss can't stand not to break his toys. BUT he's also really good at getting ~~people~~ me to invest in his characters despite knowing that they will end up dead/broken/whatev. CURSE YOU JOSS WHEDON.

In conclusion, two things:

1) This cast is ridiculously awesome.

...They made Boyd evil? D: HE WAS MY FAVOURITE.

THEY DID IT IN A WAY THAT WORKED NARRATIVELY WISE? In that, like, I love him dearly and I've trusted him basically since day one and even now that he's Evil!Boyd I still love him and want to trust him and they very much played into that. Rather than just "We know you loved him BUT NOW HE'S EVIL HAHA SUCKERS GUESS YOU CAN'T LOVE HIM ANYMORE" sort of thing that I've gotten from other shows.

...I'm still not okay with it. :(

How exactly is he evil?

He's apparently the original founder of Rossum, the Dollhouse's parent company. He's responsible for bringing Caroline into the Dollhouse. He's been manipulating things behind the scenes to get Echo to "full potential" re: retaining imprints, and also he arranged for Topher's remote-imprinting tech to be implemented, which means that to a certain degree he's responsible for the bad!future in Epitaph One.

That...more or less sums it up, I think.

Was that really necessary? Boyd was interesting and ambiguous enough already. I kind of get choosing the most seemingly conflicted member of the Dollhouse, but it just - doesn't jive at all.

There was a whole plotline set up where the founder of Rossum was evidently someone we already knew, and so obviously there was a lot of spec on that front.

I don't know anyone who speculated it might be Boyd. Like every other non-Doll and probably have the Dolls were guessed at, but nobody suggested Boyd.

And then the reveal came and everybody went "W. T. F."

...You know, TWEESTs are all well and good, but when absolutely nobody guesses who it’s going to be, that can be a Bad Thing. People ought to go “oh, that makes sense!” At least someone should go “I knew it!” You shouldn’t sacrifice plausibility for shock.

On the other hand, a lot of people have gone back to rewatch older episodes and said they make more sense (or a different kind of sense) knowing the TWEEST.

I think so? But I wouldn't swear to it. ...I haven't rewatched myself yet so this is all hearsay anyway.

Adelle/Topher is my platonic!OTP as well. I love their mother/son relationship. I loved how in Topher's security footage, you could see her put her hand on his cheek and step forward to kiss his cheek, which they had in the script for the last one, but cut.

Victor!Topher is awesome. Tony/Priya is adorable. Amy Acker is amazing. Paul is boring, but I like him with Mellie, and now she's dead. Boo. I do like that he gets SOME amusing lines. Occasionally.

How good is Harry at making Boyd evil though? It's amazing. He's so creepy, but not enough that it would throw off the characters. It's very subtle. The evil grin when he said "I'm glad I chose you." to Topher made me flail.

Topher makes me hurt so much. I love how Topher kept wanting to like.. I don't even know, attack people? First Whiskey!Clyde for killing Bennett, then BOYD for killing Bennett, and then like "I invented it... which means I have to destroy it!" He tries so hard to make things right. It breaks my heart.

"Look at you, Topher. Risking your life for the cause. Choosing morality over self-preservation."

If anyone tries to say Topher is evil after this, I will put up one hell of a fight.

Harry is amazing. The subtle creepiness, where he makes it so you know you shouldn't trust him and the other characters shouldn't trust him but you still do anyway. OMG. He's so incredible. This cast is so incredible.

I will join you in that fight! Topher's had some serious ethical and moral lapses, he's definitely not the most white-hat-good-guy around but I don't see how anyone could possibly call him evil. The sheer desperation in his realization that his tech is being used for evil... D:

We still have one episode that's good to know. I was thinking it was over for good leaving us right back at the start, but how will they fix this in one episode.

Topher!Victor = ♥♥♥ (Enver is so flippin' good, OMG). And Anthony/Priya (while Topher!Victor ties to convince Priya of adding cooking skills to the mix in case of future husbandry - omg, how cute!) = more ♥♥♥. Those 2 make a scene 10 times better just by being in it with their awesomeness.

Amy Acker - hellz to the yeah! That is one talented chick, no lie. I don't know if you ever watched Angel but her Fred→Illyria transformation was so good! I forgot I was watching the same actress.

BOYD = I just don't think I'll ever have it sink in that he was evil from the get-go. I just can't. It hurts too much because I loved him as a sweet and caring character too much. Damn it, Joss, why?! And why did he consider the others "family"? Or why did he think Caroline/Echo was going to save the world? I am really confused on this. Is it all part of his manipulative=evol-gonna-destroy-mankind plan or was there a part of him that been so insane that he considered Echo etc., close even though he was just using them? Either way, I want my sweet and caring Boyd back NOW! :(

Enver is amazing, omg. He better be working constantly after this or there is no justice in the world.

I still can't cope with evil!Boyd. D: I'm terrified that I'll go back and watch earlier episodes and spend all his screentime going "WHYYYYYYY". But it's either that or completely repressing it when I rewatch earlier episodes.
