"Out of ten? Eleven."
So BBC America released a new S7 Doctor Who trailer:
And also we have a premiere date now -- September 1st, which is SO CLOSE OMG and yet simultaneously NOT SOON ENOUGH.
Honestly, watching this trailer I am forced to confront one fact I've been avoiding: the reason I'm so invested in tracking spoilers for Jenna-Louise Coleman's character is because I am EXCITED FOR NEW COMPANION and simultaneously NOT READY TO LET GO OF THE PONDS. There are definitely spoilers going around for 7A and for the Ponds' exit -- but I can't look at them because oh God not ready so instead I focus on JLC.
This kind of surprises me, because I really thought that as much as I love the Ponds I was nevertheless ready to move on. I got upset over their God Complex departure, and that was cathartic and prepared me for a new companion. Right?
Well, I am prepared for a new companion. But apparently I have not achieved full catharsis over losing the Ponds yet.
That shot of bb!Amelia in the trailer tore me to pieces, and the whole "You're thinking of stopping, aren't you? You and Rory?" "The travelling is starting to feel like running away" is going to destroy me in context, I'm sure of it. Don't leave me, Ponds, please?
On a completely different note, "It's called marriage, honey." ♥
So, anyway, yeah, been spoilerhunting for stuff about JLC's character, since I can't bear to look at Ponds-related spoilers.
There's still a lot left unknown about new companion Clara, but the stuff that's being revealed bit by bit is fascinating. They're filming the Christmas special, her introductory episode, now, and it's set in Victorian era, and JLC has seriously the most amazing costumes (I am SO GLAD to see period costume porn coming back into vogue for Doctor Who companions, there's so much opportunity for it), and the few scenes set reporters have managed to get concrete details for look perplexingly fascinating. (WTF is going on in this video, for example?)
Also, VASTRA and JENNY, that is the opposite of a bad thing.
I have a lot of feelings.
