I want Tosh's apartment. I also wouldn't turn down being as utterly brilliant as Tosh or as completely gorgeous.
She and Tommy are adorable together. Love how she gets all dressed up for him and then tries to play it off as "Oh, hadn't noticed" with everyone.
"You look like a film star."
"Who? Charlie Chaplin?"
"Jack, have you got anymore of those pretty boys in the freezer?"
"Hands off, missy, Tosh got there first."
They go out for a drink and a movie and a pizza. *dies of cute* *ships them like whoa*
"He's a frozen soldier from 1918."
"Nobody's perfect."
And talking about her job and her life and how it's her choice...and all the things she wanted to do but didn't get around to...
I like how Torchwood is making an effort to be less emo this season.
And of course Tosh is good at pool. XD I bet she used to hustle pool for pub money.
Gwen's first scene with the hospital ghost: Genuinely creepy and atmospheric and brilliantly done.
"I was just thinking...I'd do anything for you." *swoons*
The whole chasing-after-her and scooping-her-up and kissing-her... Yes. Definitely shipping Tosh/Tommy.
"I know it's silly, but I'm a bit older than you."
"I was born in 1894."
"You know what I mean."
"So I'm old enough to die for my country, but too young to give you a kiss?"
Sheet of paper: "Okay, linear time." Balls up paper: "Screwed-up time!"
Owen having an actual human conversation with Tosh, with like feelings and things and being nice to her, goes a long ways towards warming my feelings towards him. Still don't ship them, though. Pls don't go there, canon.
...no, really, why does Torchwood put its name on everything? Some Top Sekrit Organization.
And Tosh doesn't want to tell Tommy not to go back to 1918 just because of her! They're breaking my heart.
They kill Tommy for shellshock?!? I can't take this, please. And the whole "they froze his most recent memories, but when we send him back he'll revert back to being shellshocked!" thing didn't make much sense to me, so if anyone could please explain that I'd appreciate it.
"So I'll be saving the world in some pajamas. How daft is that?" Oh, Torchwood, mocking your mother show. ...Go ahead. Mock away.
"We were just wondering what Tommy should do tonight?"
"He can come home with me!"
Seriously, her apartment is so nice. Major props to the set dresser, because it looks very Toshiko.
That Jack/Ianto kiss took me another step or two closer to actively shipping them.
Oh God the bedroom Tommy/Tosh scene just shattered my heart.
And Tommy's explosion at Jack... *sobs*
"It's me. Toshiko."
"Who?"
"What am I fighting for?"
"For the future. For me. Because you're my brave, handsome hero. Tommy, use the key."
And he does and I die and okay, I love them way too much.
At least Tosh gets a requited love story with someone who isn't trying to kill/use her, finally. Even if it is doomed from the start.
Conclusion: Well, Tosh-centric episodes will always get high marks from me. And this one had a really wonderful love interest with clean motives, a pretty love story, some nice Jack/Tosh and Jack/Ianto moments, and Gwen and Owen being actually likable. So I think we can definitely call it a trend towards higher quality than last season. (Right? Three is the number needed to call something a trend? Something like that, anyway.)
But why do I have the feeling that 90% of the icons to come out of this episode will be Jack/Ianto instead of Tosh/Tommy?
