"How's it supposed to protect us?" "I don't know, with its...boxy...goodness?"
Luke&Sarah are SO MUCH LOVE. Really, I adore their relationship. And I loved how Luke was playing devil's advocate here -- "yes, but you KNOW the risks, so you won't screw everything up, and really wouldn't you like to see Grandma and Granddad your parents just once?" -- until he realized that Sarah was too far gone to be rational about it and then switched to going "Mum, we have to go home now. MUM, WE HAVE TO GO. MUM, DON'T DO THAT. MUM, STOP IT!"
i know the big thing going around is drawing the Father's Day parallels, which is apt. Pretty much dead-on, really. The key difference is that, yes, SJ knows the risks she's taking -- but even though she knows them and she knows what she's doing is stupid, she can't stop herself, which I think is pretty reasonable. Everybody wants to know that their parents love them, right? I wanted to hug her a lot.
Clyde was, per the usual, made of win and awesome. Coaching Rani through the history of the box...thing...does that thing have a name? Figuring out that something was wrong when Luke wasn't there to answer the door. Trying to invoke the portal with the box. "Abracadabra! Open sesame! ...oh, I know, JUMANJI!" I &hearts him so much, and he and Rani make a wonderful team.
So we leave off with all four of our heroes in the post-apocalyptic alternate present, all aware that this is not supposed to be, Sarah and Luke in one place with the knowledge of what made it happen, Clyde and Rani in another with the box...thing. And another week's wait to find out what's going to happen. *makes face*
While LJ was down, I took the dog on a walk down to the local coffeeshop. Have now rediscovered my love affair with their hot chocolate. YUM.
