Indomitable, that's the word. Indomitable!

More a reaction post than a review, as I wrote most of it while watching...

"You abandoned me."
"Did I? Busy life, me, moving on."
Oh, the look on Martha's face... :(

And Martha and Jack bonding over their resentment that he wouldn't leave Rose behind...

Srsly shipping Martha/Jack right now. THEY ARE SO MUCH MORE AWESOME THAN THE DOCTOR.

"Haha, oh, I've missed this!"
And we've missed YOU, Jack! ♥

"If we get to the silo then we're safe!"
"Silo?"
"Silo!"
"Silo for me!"

...I'm sorry, I really, really do love Jack...and John Barrowman in general...but every time I watch him run... *dissolves in giggles*

"You don't tell him to put his gun down."
"He's not my responsibility."
"And I am? Huh. That makes a change."

"The Doctor?"
"That's me."
"Good! Good. Good. Good! Good..."
"Good, apparently."

And the Doctor trying to stop Jack from saying hello to anyone! For you, that's flirting.

And Martha still getting hung up on little details about the Doctor! 'Cause he hasn't told her everything. Probably couldn't.

"Oh, with all the chatting away, I forgot to tell you...I'm brilliant."

Martha and the little boy is just too freaking adorable for words.

And Martha begging to be allowed to give Jack CPR!

"Not easy looking at you, Jack, 'cause you're...you're wrong."
"Thanks."
"You are, I can't help it!"

"That's brilliant, isn't it?"
"Yeah, brilliant, fantastic, except they died, the Time Lords, all of them."

"I...am...the...Master."
OH...MY...GOD. *dies* ♥ Despite, you know, being fairly thoroughly spoiled 'cause I'm cool like that, that was still THE MOST AWESOME MOMENT EVER.

Kay. Quick rundown:
Derek Jacobi as Professor Yana/the Master? Awesome.
David Tennant? Amazing.
Freema Agyeman? Fantastic.
John Barrowman? Brilliant.
John Simm? Perfect.
Ensemble cast? Wonderful.

Lighting design: Gorgeous.
Set design: Beautiful.
Score: Will somebody please advise Murray Gold in the benefits of moderation? How much more awesome would that regeneration scene have been with a much quieter, scaled-back score?

Final opinion: Best. Episode. of New Who to date!

I made mention on your other post how much this episode really rocked!

It really, really did! XD XD ♥

While this episode was made of win, its does answer a question I've had for some time. Unless they do some serious explaining in the next to episodes, I guess the TV Movie is not canon

Yeah, I can't imagine how they're going to dance around the Eye of Harmony issue. I can fanwank an explanation for the renewed regenerative abilities (he possessed another Time Lord's body! the Chameleon Arch reset his regenerations! anything!) but the Eye of Harmony issue is a much harder one. :/

John Barrowman might be the one person who has a run as silly as mine.

I'm so happy Jack's back in DW. We've waited, what, two years (not counting Torchwood) for this? And they delivered! Oh, baby, it was all kinds of beautiful. I loved. And yes, Jack/Martha OTP. There was a great spark between John and Freema, too. And even the Rose references were well done and actually had a POINT!

And the end! John Simm! I had no idea that he'd be in last night's episode, too, so I was squeeing like a mad thing when the Master regenerated. This is why I avoid spoilers like the plague. So much more fun.

Might be wrong... but I believe that the Master has now regenerated a total of 27 times (not all on-screen).

John and Freema...it might just be too pretty to stand. Add David into the mix, and it's murderously pretty!

And even the Rose references were well done and actually had a POINT!
I know!! I was expecting "Jack's back, which means Rose refs, obv...gahh" and then the Rose refs came and they weren't that bad and they fit in and...it was just shocking!!!

It was so freaking awesome! ♥

All that prettiness on one screen. It almost shouldn't be allowed!

I love the idea of Jack watching Rose grow up. That's so sweet. In Fanon it's always been the Doctor who stalked childhood!Rose. I never thought of Jack doing it, but I can picture it easily. I wonder if there will be a load of fic now where Jack DOES approach little Rose?

[identity profile] chicafrom3.livejournal.com 2007-06-17 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
There probably will be! *amused*

(Personally, though, I'd love to see some fic of him running into Mickey at some point between Boomtown / Christmas Invasion and desperately trying to figure out who knows what. Just because Jack/Mickey? Totally my cracklove.)

I love the bitching about Rose (because, seriously, what was so great about Rose? I didn't actively dislike her, but what did she actually do?)

I thought this was a really great episode. It reminded me of Battlestar Galactica, in a strange way. I love Jack, and Jack/Martha would be so much fun.

Are you watching Jekyll?

(because, seriously, what was so great about Rose? I didn't actively dislike her, but what did she actually do?)

Hardcore. Totally agreed (and that's part of why the crazier Rosefen bother me a lot, 'cause I've seen a few complain that Martha's a "bad Companion" and Rose would have been more proactive or something...WTF, Martha's about a million times more proactive than Rose!)

*cough* Okay, I actually did actively dislike Rose.

Are you watching Jekyll?

I'm not! Should I be? Is it good? Details!

Well, it's written by Steven Moffat, who I think writes excellent Doctor Who episodes, but it's slightly disappointing. Some of the dialogue is a bit off, and it's miscast, and the direction isn't great. It definitely has its moments, though; plus, Meera Syal and Fenella Woolgar play a lesbian couple. They're the best thing in it. It's good enough that I'll keep watching.

Hmm. I'll poke my nose around and see what I think. xD
