i see my present partner in the imperfect tense

Today we drove out to Raleigh to see the older sister and the new brother-in-law (for the first time!). He seemed nice. I'm not very good at meeting new people, but he seemed nice.



Also! I watched the new DW Christmas special. I enjoyed it, mostly. There was some really awkward gender stuff that is still bothering me. (Seriously? Rosita can be the nursemaid? That came out of nowhere. And Harrigan gets shot down and destroyed for being a strong, intelligent woman. *sigh*) And there was a completely superfluous Rose nod that irritated me. And the little kid was even more superfluous wtf why was he part of the plot at all? And the ending kind of completely fell apart in the traditional manner of RTD-penned endings.

But! I am a sucker for all things steampunk, plus Morrissey was awesome, plus Rosita was awesome until she got demoted to nursemaid wtf, plus David Tennant got a chance to play something other than angsty emo lonely god, plus the random Sally shoutout made the Rose nod less painful somehow, plus the kid who took care of Jackson's TARDIS (Jed? Was that his name?) was awesome, plus OMGONEDOYOUKNOWHOWHARDISQUEEDWHENISAWHIM? AND THEN TWO! AND THREE! AND FOUR AND FIVE AND SIX AND SEVEN AND EIGHT AND NINE!

Plus, hot air balloon? Awesome. Seriously my weakness for steampunk may be something that someone will someday exploit and use to defeat me. *shifty*

To sum up: It had problems but I loved it anyway.
